Even if I tried to infer anything from the moment of injury I'd be full of cheet. The only thing I have to base an opinion on is the fact that he got reps post injury and wasn't immediately tossed on IR. In the playoffs you obviously need every body available and unless we're talking a guy with Tom Brady type importance it doesn't make sense to give up a roster spot for hopes of a Superbowl recovery. So, yeah, I'd expect him to be good to go.
Ty Warren on the other hand, had a torn hip labrum that required surgery which is typically a four to six month recovery time. Tack on two months to recover the atrophied muscle and another two or three to get back into shape to be able to train at a high level. From there I'd assume another two months until we're talking playing condition.
I really have no clue but I think we're talking two completely different injuries.
On the other hand he is BY FAR the best DE on the roster, so I don/t know how that puts him on any type of bubble.
I mean come on, the guy skipped the off season so he get a degree and then he puts off surgery until training camp. He needs to prove he can still play.
How is Ty Warrens injury automatically worse in your mind? Ty supposedly played two seasons fairly effectively before deciding to have the surgery while Hernandez tryed to finish out one season and was not very effective after the injury and then had the surgery right away.
I would say it is highly possible Hernandez's injury might be worse than Warren's was. I would also say it is possible Warren did more damage playing on it 2 years and could be worse off. But the one thing that I dont think is too crazy to surmise is that neither should be close to as bad as Colvins who struggled to walk off the field and who has no questions that he could not play thru the injury.
Now as I joked before I am not doctor and I can only go off the little info we have and what we do know says to me that there is a good chance Warren will not need PUP. Might it be needed sure but no reason to think at this point it has to be the case unless you have more medical info that I do and a better ability to diagnose the info.
I believe it was said to be a 6 month rehab at the time which begged the question why had he not dealt with it in the offseason of last year or even the year before (since it had reportedly been bothering him for a couple of years).
Reportedly was away from the team at that team working on his college degree for when he retires.

Because I have seen him play. "banged up in 2009 and 2008" doesn't change what his ability is.He IS? How can you possibly know that? He didn't play at all last year and was constantly banged up in 2009 and 2008. The last time he was consistently good was 2007. He is on the bubble in the sense that he will compete for a job and right now there are significant questions as to whether he will be able to win any such competition.
Oh just stop spoiling a good conspiracy theory with facts.Actually, they said that they had hoped that just rehabbing it would help. It didn't. And that is why they made the decision to do the surgery when they did.
I do not believe there is any evidence whatsoever that the team wanted him to have surgery earlier and he refused. Well, other than fans making that up.I can easily imagine the team grumbling along the lines of "We told that so-and-so he should get the surgery over with. But did he listen? Nooooo."
But "Lazy, uncommitted, so-and-so -- let's cut him!" seems a lot less likely.

I havent heard it. It wouldnt seem consistent with the Patriots to reveal something like that a year or more later.I'd be shocked if there weren't somebody on the team CLAIMING they wanted him to have surgery earlier, whether that's revisionist history or actually true.
OMG.. He was away from the team working on his college degree during the off-season. Something that the team (and LEAGUE) reward, btw. Something that BB gave his BLESSING on. Yet, you believe that the Patriots didn't want him to do it and that they will hold it against him..

I think many confuse hatred of PFT and E!spN reporting speculation as news with being PomPom wavers. This didn't emanate from fans making things up. It was opined on PFT and Ian Rappaport twitted that he had first reported it... Sometimes mediots have sources they rely on for their little snipets whether they turn out to be accurate or not. Those sources can include players and agents as well as the team... I don't think it's a stretch though to imagine the team wasn't all that thrilled with either Ty's decision to skip the entire off season program last year to go back to school (Pioli used to wax poetic about these guys having their priorities in order and football being their #1 priority during the small window in which it need be) or a decision to opt to do surgery that perhaps could have been done preemptively in an offseason on the eve of a new season.
Some here used to scoff at the idea that the team was less than thoroughly enamored with Richard Seymour dating back to his contract situation and level of performance in it's immediate aftermath. Then he was gone. Situations aren't always black and white. In the grander scheme of things whose to say the team doesn't even want Warren to sense some possibly unanticipated competitive pressure to deliver on his return. Bill loves competition.
