I watched the tape again and there did not appear to be any injury. Later in the game Maroney is talking to Brady on the bench and he looks like he is explaining something to Brady in a cautionary manner while making some motions that may be describing a tweak or injury.

Probably just precautionary and hopefully just a classic Belichick smoke screen to start of the season, to put a little doubt into the Bills defensive game plan. Hopefully it was just a tweak and I see know reason to risk further injury for the final week of pre season practice and last pre season game.

This really seems like a precautionary move to me. Maroney more than proved his ability and if he tweaked something, there was no point in aggreavating it further in another pre-season game. With all the time off between last week and Sept. 10 I do not think there is much to worry about. Seems to me that some Boston sports journalists out there (Tomase and Borges to be precise) are unhappy with the lack of stories coming their way so they have to make mountains out of molehills. Besides, with a healthy Dillon, Faulk and Evans the running game looks in pretty good shape right now.

Actually, Pioli said some people will be put on IR.

I will straight up vomit if one is Maroney (or Jackson)

Pioli was saying that chopping down the roster to 53 invariably involves cuts, practice squad allocations, and different type of reserve designations, including IR. I believe Pioli was speaking last night in general terms as to how all teams have these options at their disposal to reduce to 53.

That's exactly how I interpreted it as well.

Weren't Maroney and Jackson at the media infested Patriots kickoff gala?

If either of them had even the slightest hitch in their step, wouldn't the media have been all over it.

I've been reading Thomase lately, and he's starting to write like he works for the National Enquirer.

Hopefully. I don't believe anything until Reiss reports it.

Someone, Felger maybe, was on NEST (I know it's now ST but I'm sticking with NEST) midweek, said he saw Maroney walking in, or to, the lockerroom and he was walking fine. If there's an injury it's probably very minor.

Attention PatsNutMe get the button!!!!!

Yeah, the Bills should only prepare for a full steam ahead rushing game. We have no players that can hurt them on the perimeter.

Hey, I'm an optimist.

I don't know. I thought it was a given that Maroney had tweaked/hurt something when he didn't practice all this past week. Yes, he is a 1st rounder, but for now he is still second string, so you would think he would have gotten some reps, especially since most first teamers played.

Tape of the Skins Game?

Well this totally sucks.
It begins again. This time not even waiting for game 2
If anyone has a tape of the skins game and can see how Maroney leaves the field that would be some good info.
Tomase was the one who broke Teddies injury if I'm not mistaken!
well i have that game on TiVo. will look at it this AM to see what i can see. i certainly don't remember him being helped off the field in any way.
if it's a short-term injury i can see patrick cobbs acquitting himself pretty well.
definitely make the last-week cuts by the other 31 teams more significant.
BTW did you see antowain sprinting down the field for the saints this week?

what? BB putting up a smoke screen?

i would think BB is capable of that. Maroney may have skinned his knee for all i know.
i'll look at the TiVo and get back later today.

This is typical boston sports journalism. Everyone knows Maroney had a minor injury during last weeks game. It has been reported all week. All week, people have been saying they did not think Maroney, Watson, Watson would play. All Tomase did was stir the pot (like these clowns in this town do that write for the papers - although some are very good and I got nothing against Tomase) saying Maroney was injured. No kidding. So all of a sudden, something that was known last Sunday, is all of sudden news? We should pannick because in the last preseason game, the future RB of this team did not play, even though everyone all week said (or thought) he wasnt gonna play anyways? Also, Pats never talk about how hurt someone is. Why would BB play someone with minor injury in last preseason game? Maroney will be fine and be playing next week. Also, if he had something seriously wrong with him, people would know about it by now.

At worst, even if he has some sprain or some tweak, and seeing that people have seen him during the game on the sidelines, during the week etc...and nothing is noticeably wrong, at worst his misses a game or two. Woohoo. He will be fine. I find it hard to believe we know all the people on the team that are hurt - Bruschi, Jackson etc....and right after these injuries happened the writers know about it. But this one they dont? It is just a paper trying to get people to read, and knuckleheads like me to post. Well done Tomase.

Maroney came out as a junior right, so the Pat's need to very cautious with him now the real hitting begins. The Pat's should use him very sparingly for the first half of the season.

I'm concerned of course especially as we know Belichick would cut off his nose first before giving information on any injury but if the kid had a "serious" injury and had gone for an MRI at any medical facility during the week you can bet your bottom dollar that it would have leaked--not from the Patriots but word tends to get out when an athlete sees a specialist or has an MRI or CAT scan done. It could just be a tweak that, so close to the real season, the Coach decided not to chance, let the kid rest and recoup.

There's nothing from that Washington game that would indicate a serious injury. Probably a mild sprain, slightly hyper-extended it or something along those lines, and the team didn't want to risk him banging it up. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get touches against the Bills.

Tom Brady didn't make the trip to NY last night either. I suppose that means his shoulder is about to fall off in Tomase-speak.
