I apologize, I'm not up on my D&D vs. World of Warcraft talk. I was just extremely p*ssed and typing. I really do hate Easterbrook.

No problem. I just feel the need to stand up for my D&D brethren since so many seem unwilling to do so. I also like being mock-melodramatic.

Speaking of which, did you see the World of Warcraft Toyota commercials this weekend? What the hell?

Bah, I saw that a week or two ago on YouTube (thank you geeky wife). I was of course psyched to see it make the airwaves.

I'm amazed that anyone (even on this board) had any idea what the hell was going on in that commercial. They have, like, under 10 million subscribers, most of which are in China...if I were Mr. Joe Football Fan, I'd be like, "Wtf is this?"

Heck, if he does that, I'll gladly cough up $10 toward the fine. :)

An anti-Semite going after Kraft....

Here is an excerpt from an article he wrote

Set aside what it says about Hollywood that today even Disney thinks what the public needs is ever-more-graphic depictions of killing the innocent as cool amusement. Disney's CEO, Michael Eisner, is Jewish; the chief of Miramax, Harvey Weinstein, is Jewish. Yes, there are plenty of Christian and other Hollywood executives who worship money above all else, promoting for profit the adulation of violence. Does that make it right for Jewish executives to worship money above all else, by promoting for profit the adulation of violence? Recent European history alone ought to cause Jewish executives to experience second thoughts about glorifying the killing of the helpless as a fun lifestyle choice. But history is hardly the only concern. Films made in Hollywood are now shown all over the world, to audiences that may not understand the dialogue or even look at the subtitles, but can't possibly miss the message--now Disney's message--that hearing the screams of the innocent is a really fun way to express yourself. And the more traffic you give Easterbrook by clicking on his site, the more $ he generates.

I got sick and tired of his Peeping Tom, cheerleader soft porn over two years ago. And the guy's married to a Baptist minister, if I recall. Wouldn't surprise me if he isn't another sexually repressed Larry Craig.

Doesn't Disney own ESPN and ESPN.com Should we send emails to Disney.

I think that was from a while ago, and he was fired for it. Unfortunately he was re-hired later...

That would explain his love for the wholesome family Christian goodness of the deep south Mannings and the great godliness of Martin Luther Dungy, and his hatred for Catholic Sybarite/Satan Tom Brady, Football-is-God Bill Belichick, and Corporate Ne'er-Do-Well Jewish Bob Kraft.

Easterbrook is a prick.

Comparison:

Summer 2007: Brady in Africa helping AIDS victims. Manning in Indianpolis pocketing $200,000 to appear at a girl's birthday party.

Dungy does seem like a good man, but you can't tell me there was no conflict between a father involved in groups that are completely unsympathetic to gays and his gay son. Many people have such issues in their families, and they are very tough to square. That doesn't make him a bad person, but it's hardly the perfect father either.

I've said the same thing. Maybe if Tony Dungy were a more attentive father, his son would still be alive. Nobodys perfect...including Tony Dungy.

I've avidly played MMOs for a few years now, first Guild Wars and then Lord of the Rings Online.

But here's the amazing part -- in both cases, I was dragged into them by my wife, who's a much more serious gamer than I am.

I think there's some truth to this. Easterbrook is a holy roller and we all know what holy rollers think of those who don't have the same belief systems they do.

It still amazes me he was a senior editor at the New Republic. He's as socially conservative as they come.

Hehe, I only WISH my girlfriend was as into them as me. I started with Dark Age of Camelot - which looks like Pong compared to Guild Wars, but was still a major step up from Everquest (I'm not THAT old-school).

Back on-topic: Yeah, Easterbrook is a douche.

[Edit] Btw, one of the comments on the ESPN page asserted that the Supreme Court *has* ruled in favor of anti-defamatory plaintiffs in cases involving "opinion" pieces. If that's true, then I imagine if the Pats can credibly demonstrate that Easterbrook's piece, which includes clear and deliberate factual inaccuracies, caused material harm to the organization (e.g., lost revenue), they could sue either him or ESPN (or maybe both).

Syb·a·rite
n.
1. A person devoted to pleasure and luxury; a voluptuary.
2. A native or inhabitant of Sybaris.

I guess he's ignoring the fact that Brady is often referred to as the hardest working football player in the league.

I have read elsewhere that Easteregg is anything but anti-Semitic and that he was horribly embarrassed by his miscommunication.

For my part, I would want to be understanding that anyone could make a mistake.

But, if I were to apply the approach he has used with the Patriots(speculation, innuendo, idle gossip and assuming facts not in evidence), I'd have a lot of questions -

I have talked to people who have said he is a blatant anti-Semite. It seems that he may be trying to cover up his anti-Semitic leanings. How do we know he's not really anti-Semitic? What hasn't he proven that he is not now and never has been anti-Semitic? Why does't he come forward and discuss this with the press, ESPN and Roger Goodell?

You get the idea - we could go on and on ...

Funny, he brings up Dungy's religion but I think he must have missed Brady meeting the Pope and this article about the kind of family Brady has (since he brought Mannings family into it)

http://www.boston.com/news/local/ma...5/11/05/tom_bradys_father_to_share_his_faith/
"
Tom Brady Sr. is so devoted to his Catholic faith that it almost cost the world a star athlete.

The father of the New England Patriots' two-time Super Bowl MVP quarterback studied seven years to be a Maryknoll priest before deciding to leave the seminary and later having a family."

Q: You have a deep love for your faith. Has [your son] inherited that?
A: He's not in the seminary. That doesn't mean that he doesn't love it every bit as much. Absolutely, it's an important role for him.

Yep they're are evil personified:D

Easterbrook should be fired

How can they print this stuff? he's a hack!

He writes

"The team's star, Tom Brady, is a smirking sybarite who dates actresses and supermodels but whose public charity appearances are infrequent. That constant smirk on Brady's face reminds one of **** Cheney; people who smirk are fairly broadcasting the message, "I'm hiding something."

Re: Easterbrook should be fired

Comparing Tom Brady to **** Cheney isn't even close. This guy is the biggest ******* i have seen get permission to write a column.

Re: Easterbrook should be fired

So the man has an agenda afterall.
There goes his credibility.
Jealous pr!ck.

I get the feeling Easterbrook isn't the kind of person who thinks meeting the Pope is a good thing, if you get my drift.

No mention of the Manning moon in college (which I have no problem with, he's an athlete and he was in college) or the fact that he impregnated his wife before their marriage.
