Stafford could have used another year of development, which he now has to do on the payroll. Cassel is NFL ready. And before anyone jumps in with Flacco and Ryan, please recall they were both seniors who had that extra year Stafford needs (Jamarcus Russel anyone?).Brain = slow
What impact will the underclassmen QBs have on Cassell's trade value?
I still see the Vikings as a prime target but maybe they look at Warner or Garcia instead.
Umm.. High school accomplishments mean nothing. As for him being the "#1 rated OT and player coming out of college this season," that's not been the case on any of the sites I've been to.
NFLDraftscout.com, the site that the NFL uses for most of its player information, has Smith rated as the #3 OT and his stock is falling. He's still in their top 10 overall. But you have to take into consideration that a player's stock is constantly rising or falling and that things such as Bowl Games, The College All-Star Games (East/West Shrine Game, Senior Bowl), the Combine and the Pro Days, as well as the underclassmen declaring, will all affect his standing.
What you didn't do is explain WHY you felt Smith was the best? OTher than what some list you looked at said. I was hoping for something a bit more comprehensive..

Lions GM Here
I trade down from the 1 overall pick to 3 or to whoever falls in love with Stafford.
I pick up next years 1 from the trade partner as well as their 3rd round pick this year.
