I think Edelman and Amendola (last year's #1 and #2 most productive WRs) are obviously locks for starting positions, but after that Dobson/Thompkins/LaFell/Boyce will be fighting it out for playing time and different roles. I think it's pretty wide open at this point due to various circumstances.
Dobson--obviously the most talented and has the highest upside, yet has injury issues at the moment
Thompkins--hard worker who has supposedly made progress from year one and would take Dobson's place
LaFell--has to progress and be more consistent, was a halfway decent FA signing with experience
Boyce--could be active on gameday due to kickoff return duties, depending on circumstances
I'm not sure I agree on Amendola, he's having a very quiet camp, as if he's expected to. I don't EXPECT to hear much about Edelman, Amendola hasn't really proven much, I expect to hear about every good and bad thing he's done, I know he's a lock because of his contract, but that doesn't mean he's a starter, at least not to me.
I think Amendola got the play time he did at the end of last season in large part because KT and Dobson were MIA with injuries. Week 1 was a fluke moreso than a sign of things to come in my eyes.
I could be way off, I just feel like KT has earned his spot, Dobson SHOULD have a spot, and I don't see Edelman losing his to anyone right now.
I also want to note, I'm not an Amendola hate by any means, I guess I'm just a bigger fan of the younger guys right now.
