and the 3 straight play-off W were...on the road...
easy ?
those 3 seasons were better than anything Steve Grogan ever did. Hey, i know guys like Grogan and O'Reilly become these big overated stars in Boston because of their personalities, toughness, and Irish names, but Steve Grogan had some nice games, some nice 6 game stretches. Tony Eason came on in 1984 and QB'd better than Grogan could ever dream of. He did everything he was asked to do in those playoff games and showed the discipline Grogan never could have, and again in 1986 Eason was terrific.
Eventually, injuries, the fact that he wasnt Doug Flutie, and the slandering from John Hannah turned everyone against the first QB to take the Patriots to a Super Bowl. Grogan never won a playoff game.
I liked the guy, but it doesnt mean to like Grogan you have to make up stuff to down Eason.
We are forgetting Two I believe,Major Applewhite and Michael Bishop? Arent I right?
The tread should focus on starters otherwise there are a dozen obscure QBs who never started a Pats game
Tom Brady. Quite the most useless person ever to put on a Pats shirt.

In cases like Marc Wilson, I'd rather blame the management that brought him in. He was a known quantity (not that good with Oakland). Why bring him in and hand him the starting job?Marc Wilson
Marc Wilson
Marc Wilson
Marc Wilson
Marc Wilson
Honorable mention: Hugh Millen (for screwing up that Denver game by trying to run the ball and letting the clock run out)
Marc makes all the other QB's mentioned look like Joe Montanna.
And please take Tony Eason off the list. He did pretty well and actually won a few PLAYOFF games. Nobody was going to beat the Bears that day. Had his receivers not been high on blow they would have caught a TD pass in the first drive and who knows the Pats may have covered.
Eason?what is yr opinion ?
in this case i have not the top 5 list that i have for the best top 5...(Brady, Bledsoe, Grogan, Parilli, Eason and i should add Plunkett)
It wasn't just because of the '85 Bears. He was over-rated from the beginning, and never panned out. There is a reason he only played four years for us, with ony spot appearances after that. And please take Tony Eason off the list. He did pretty well and actually won a few PLAYOFF games. No that would be Todd Blackledge. There were a lot of good QBs in that draft. We got the runt of the litter.
damn--no recollection of this dude:
