Can we draft the entire Alabama D whilst we're at it?

Wilson goes off! Oh what a suprise!

What did i say last week? This secondary is so bad at coverage that they make the most average and inexperienced QB's look like hall of famers.

Wilson is alright but he is not that good yet, yet just like with Fitzpatrick and Locker they make the 'meh' QB's look amazing.

Sick and tired of the same rubbish every week with our DB's giving up 40 yard bomb's at will.

Agree with this. It's getting really eff'n old wasting year after year of Brady's career by giving him a defense that can't seal the deal. Really starting to wonder if BB is even capable of putting together a decent secondary at this point. This **** is just awful.

Sadly, I have and do agree. Yea, I'm a cry baby. We have a strong chain with a weak link. Let the koolaid drinkers guzzle away. This is a great team with pass coverage problems. The worst I've seen in a long time. And BB is in denial.

Field Hates (ESPN Boston) on Twitter:

Head-to-head, Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is 4-0 vs. Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo & Cam Newton. Against Sam Bradford & Kevin Kolb: 0-2

We need to try something. Our secondary has been regressing for at least 3 years running.

We need more height and better speed in the Secondary

In my opinion. NFL wide receivers at 6'4 210lb with 4.3 speed, we need to find a talented tall cover guy to be able to hang with the true # 1 wide receivers of the NFL today.

5'9, 5'10 cornerbacks with average speed are not going to make it at an elite level in today's NFL

Re: We need more height and better speed in the Secondary

Tell that to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens or Houston Texans.

We need DBs with better technique who look for the ball and take good angles.

Well said my friend, this is true especially against teams like Saints and Giants

Rather than a gazillion threads on the defensive backs and pass coverage, post all your thoughts on this unit here.

I think it is an economic decision BB made. He knows our secondary sucks, but good secondary is so expensive, he is taking a hit there, building up a nice pass rush, great offense, and hoping the nude emperor sneaks through to another SB.

I think the experiment is failing.

Get a new secondary coach. Now.

And to think how much we have spent on the secondary. For this end result.

    So many draft picks.

time to get new coaches, boyer has been with the team for 4 or 5 years and has nothing to show for in the secondary performance.

This seems to be fact: every team we play tosses up long pop-ups on 3rd down and one of two things happens. Either a PI call or a completion. Honestly, I'm not being facetious here, but if I were playing against the Pats, I'd throw every, single down because you know one or the other is going to occur. That final TD was given up while we were in a semi-prevent defense. Unbelievable. But, at least as large a problem is the fact that with a lead, our offense simply can't close out. I shudder to think what our record would be if it weren't for the fumbles caused by our front 7.

Anyone that says the secondary is good, or even decent, is just living in denial.

However, Belichick is ALSO living in denial, so I guess it's not that bad. I wish I was blissfully ignorant to how bad the problem was as so many people inside and outside of Gillette are.

I think the only passes Wilson missed all day were the ones he over or under threw. Tavon Wilson had one beautiful pass he batted down. Besides that, it was a friggin joke.

You get PIs and don't turn around for the ball when you are basically beaten on a play and playing catchup. That's fine and happens even to the best when you are playing 1 on 1 man, but this isn't whats happening for the most part.

The problem is, you shouldn't be beaten long in a prevent D or a Dime. This isn't a question of athleticism, its a question of coaching. Our safeties are taking insanely bad angles, and thats coachable.

An example of what its supposed to look like is the Tavon Wilson bat down pass. Easy! Its not even a question of athleticism, height or ball skills. He was in the proper position and was able to make the simple play.

Our DBs practice against midget slot guys and a possession receiver that falls down after the catch. ZERO repetitions verses deep threats.
They triple team Vincent Jackson last year and he still torched them. Baltimore's Smith torched them....Today it was Rice. It's the most confused group I've ever seen and one thing is certain....These players regress. It's coaching and scheme.

If we had one stud back in the secondary we may have one a few more SB'S.

We all know this SO.. why hasn't BB addressed this?

There is no logical reason I can think of.
