The Patriots will do the smart thing and just sit back and wait. No need to press the issue.
Arizona, SF, Chicago, NO, Detroit
If Cleveland offers us both their first rounders, does bb send them jimmy g?
I haven't touches this thread for a while so i will now.
Opening thought right now is this. The Pats don't need to do anything if value is not there. Jimmy on the bench is better than trading him to try to just get any value back even if they know he is gone after this year. He is IMO way better insurance than Brissett and if something happens to Brady is definitely the guy I want to have as my backup.
Also worth noting if something happens to Brady and he misses 4-6 games and Jimmy does really well the possibility exist to franchise Jimmy and then trade him (in which cause someone would cough up a high first I am sure). Just something to keep in mind.
Personally I don't even consider moving Jimmy unless I can get a top 20 pick or enough capital to move up inside the top 20. That is the absolute baseline for me but of course I'd like more. I am just saying I would not waste my time listening to offers below that. If Bradford can get you in the mid first Jimmy should get more IMO.
There are going to be 7 teams picking in the top 15 with serious qb questions. All we need is one that becomes desperate, or enamored with JimmyG, and it's fish in a barrel.

I hope we get the Bears' #3 overall + the last year of Akiem Hicks (that would be easier to resign this time with our Collins-free cap space), then we trade it to Cleveland (desperate to get Mike Trubitski or "New AP" Fournette or Peppers) for their #9/10 (via Philly) + #65 + 2018 1st (that should be at the very least a mid-round). And again, we trade back to any team dreaming of landing Reuben Foster or whoever still on the board for a 1st + a 2nd round picks (somewhere in the 20's)
We would get from the Grop trade :
2 1sts : #20-25 + high-mid round 2018
1 2nd : #51-58
1 3rd : #65
Akiem Hicks
With 5 picks in the top 65 / 7 in the top 104 (+1 additional first for 2018), BB could cause irreversible damages to the rest of the League.
Ummm. I don't think any player in the league is worth 2 1sts, a 1 2nd, a 3rd, and a very good DT.

I know this looks like pie in the sky, but there is some hope and reasoning to this.
Chicago to me, is our best case scenario to get paid off for Jimmy. John fox is a good coach who has rebuilt a franchise in two years in his image, and now just needs a qb to make it run. He has a blossoming defense, a great oline, and a difference maker at rb and possibly WR if Jeffry comes back. That is a fantastic situation for a QB to walk in to.
Three additional elements for Chicago.
1. John fox has to win this year. Another losing season and the last few years are for nothing. He knows this, so drafting trubisky or kizer make little sense for them.
2. Hometown element. Whatever you think about this stuff, front offices do, specifically owner level. It only helps out cause and could finalize a difficult choice. Any high cost situation comes down to how public opinion views it. Having that in our corner, as silly as it sounds, could be the difference.
3. John fox has seen the difference a qb can make with Peyton. Fox had done a great job of building a good defense and good oline with some skill position players, but had to work through tebow. Once they had Peyton, everything else looked better. Jimmy is not Peyton, but the jump from cutler to bonafide starter would make an exceptional difference. Fox will know that better than anyone.
As for the secondary trades, it's how I imagine it will work out if we ended up with a top 5 pick. Trading down 3 times for teams desperate to find a qb (trubisky at 3, kizer at 9-10) and stay in the 17-24 spot to grab an impact defender. This is the type of draft that has so much meat in the top 120 picks, I am not even sure they would push picks back a year. They can find high end talent in the 3rd round that will fit needs and build the necessary core for Brady's last hurrah.
All that to say, I think the above example is our best case scenario, but probably with Hicks removed.
The best case scenario relies mainly on the outcome of the "primary" trade and the favorable hypothesis of a bidding war resulting on the Bears stepping up and making the right offer (The Bears would be the most interested buyers for all the aforementioned reasons). I'm confident BB would be able to maximize the value of that primary "ransom" the way he feels the best and the most efficient, depending on his own draft board and his perceived value for the next two drafts vs. his long term needs
