((After watching the NFL Replay of the Ravens/Patriots game)) For those who think the Giants defense is as good as the Ravens (something based on guesswork and not cold hard facts), take a look at the Patriot offensive performance against a supposed Giant equivalent defense:

    3 and Out
Trip to the Red Zone in 10+ plays
Unforced Int (prior to INT had driven the ball to Raven 45)
Trip to the Red Zone in 10+ plays
Trip to the Red Zone in 10+ plays
Trip to the Red Zone in 10+ plays
Trip to the Red Zone in 10+ plays
Unforced Int (THE boneheaded play of the day)
3 and out (trying to run out the clock)

This is with Brady having a 55 rating, multiple unforced boneheaded throws, and -2 turnovers for the team.

The Giant Coaches, with good reason, fear what the Patriot O will be doing a week from Sunday. What Patriot fans need is for BB and Company to find a game plan that keeps the Giant offense under 30 points. But the Giant dread by some Patriot fans is perplexing given the absolute potency of the Patriot offense.

The long drives on Sunday definitely give us all reason to be very optimistic.

I imagine they will be working a lot on some of the red zone problems, as that could've easily been the difference against BAL.

On the other hand, I think the Ravens game will be a good tune-up of sorts to try and iron out the problems.

It's not the offense that I am worried about though. That said, the defense has been playing much better lately, but they do need to bring their "A" game next Sunday night for us to win this.

It is really necessary to call the QB who just led us to the SB for the 5th time a bonehead because he made 3 poor throws?

    Dread?......nah.....respect?....yes....

I feel very comfortable about this game....more comfortable than I can believe actually. Its not because I am so confident about a Pats win....its because I am so happy with what this team has achieved this year. Win (which I think they do) or lose.....I am in a comfort zone with this game...more so than other Pats SB appearances....I really want to watch this game...

As an aside....I also think Brady has a monster game...absolute monster...maybe that is why I feel so calm about it.....

The Giants will help us there. Baltimore was #1 in defending the Red Zone allowing TDs 39% of the time. NYG are 19th at 55%. The Patriots are 17th at 53%.

    Offensively we're 4th at 65% and the NYG are 9th at 54%.

So we're a little better defensively in the red zone and a good amount better offensively in the red zone although the NYG are still good themselves.

If we win this red zone battle and are even in turnovers, we will win.

    Agreed.

The girlie men need their heads banged together like the 3 stooges. The Giants need to worry about stopping Brady and the Pats O. He aint no Alex Smith.

He made more than three poor throws. It was a boneheaded game.

    Double agreed

The calls into the radio stations of these chicken littles boggles my mind, this is a Tom Brady and Belichick led team for gods sake.

I've never seen this fan base so out of their usual confident selves. It's ok to be cautious, but some here are just downright yellow.

I'm confident they will make a good showing win or lose. But also confident they can win.

Yes that thinking is certainly fair enough.

Nice look at the numbers. Regardless, I still feel that red zone success will be a main focus heading into the game, as it usually is.

I agree that consistency in the red area and not turning the ball over will lead to a good deal of success.

Protecting the QB, not turning the ball over, and red zone success will all be key issues. The only other worry is successfully defending those WR's.

He rushed and missed Gronk. He underthrew Edelman and he threw a bad ball to Slater. Thats it.
    What exactly was boneheaded?

Worse yet Andy, word up is that a QB asked about the game said that Brady sucked!

Under 30? I'd say we need to keep them in the 20-24 range, maybe better. Not saying we can't do it but we can't rely on scoring over 30 on that D

I could be wrong, but I got the impression that he called the play itself "boneheaded," not the QB.

He wasn't referring to anything other than the one play with Slater into triple coverage. It was kind of boneheaded.

Brady played like a bonehead on the weekend and by his own admission, agreed post match with his commentary.

Thankfully, he made enough plays and the defense held.

The thing that worries me is Gronk's health. Ligament damage is not a good thing at all. I was feeling confident yesterday, but with Gronk likely being severely hobbled with ligament damage I'm not sure now. Offensive line is gonna have to be stellar, that's for sure.

Please watch the play. It wasn't triple coverage.
Slater ran a post, covered by Pollard. He had inside position on him to the post. Smith was trailing the play and wasn't even a factor in covering Slater, he was more than 5 yards away.
The 3rd defender was covering a different part of the field and ran to the ball when it was in the air and got within about 10-15 yards when the ball got there.
There were 3 players in the camera view, that is not triple coverage.
A good throw was a TD. Watch the play and tell me what happens if Brady throws it to the left hash, instead of behind the WR who has beaten his defender to the inside.

One more thing - about this new found HoF QB, Eli.

I know he's been hot in the playoffs but for the season his TD/INT is 29/16 - less than 2/1. And in the second half of the season he was a frightful 14/10.

Compare that to Brady who was 39/12 for the season and 19/2 in the second half of the year. Yes, 36% more TD than Manning and while Manning threw 5 times as many INT.

The season doesn't matter, it's only one game, but Manning hasn't really had that great of a season, just a good January - yes, a good month to get hot.

One more thing - our terrible pass defense has a 86.1 QB rating against it for the season. What is the Giants' ? An identical 86.1.
