Here's how I see it. In hindsight.
IVO GB's position 4 weeks ago which I do understand and respect, what GB needed to do at that time was immediately reassure Favre that they were gonna get to work on finding him a team.
To tell him "oh, well then you're 2nd string" and "no, we will not allow you to compete for the job" AND "oh btw, how bout 20m to say at home", I think, is an EPIC management snafu that's gonna take work to recover from.
GB playing the pissant "we own you:" role was a mistake. Of course, Brett has made his mistakes along the line and has in fact created the controversy. Brett's mistakes are not the issue here.
The issue for GB is quite simply their future. This episode is really not gonna tarnish Favre's legacy on any level. Regardless, he's a 1st ballot dude.
This is about the GB organizational attitude and who they want to be. In my eyes, right now the GB org is not looking good.
The 20m story is downright pathetic.
