Schefter: Brady already took MRI

Re: Schefter:Brady already took MRI

They probably had an MRI after the game and Brady will have another one tomorrow. With injuries that involve a lot of swelling, it can be difficult to get a complete and accurate assessment. That's why, with many sports injuries, you hear about MRIs the day after injuries. Brady will ice it all night to reduce the swelling.

In other news, I wasn't going to post this because everyone would call B.S. on me. But, since Schefter reported it, I'll say it. A "source" that was in Brady's luxury box today told me directly that the word that the family received during the game was that Tom had a torn ACL, a torn MCL, and broken bone in the knee. I would have posted this earlier but no one would have believed me. I was told this before the story of the ACL tear broke. Delete the post or whatever. I don't care.

i seriously hope it isnt a worser injury like a 18month rehab.

************ lets pray he could play next season and still be the same player

Re: Schefter:Brady already took MRI

i hope, in tears, that he is wrong

Re: Schefter:Brady already took MRI

So, let me get this straight. The team is going to take an MRI tonight and then lie to everyone and their brother and say that nothing has happened and that Brady is scheduled for an MRI tomorrow?

Forgive me but taking an MRI that soon is nearly impossible because of the swelling that occurs around the injury. It would be inconclusive at best.

Sorry, but Schefter isn't some god who is linked into every team. He's been wrong plenty of times. People just forget about them because he gets stuff right occasionally.

They do have a MRI machine in the stadium. Swelling doesnt affect a MRI any more than it affects a X-ray. It is not conclusive simply because its only the Pats' doctor(not an impartial specialist)reading the pictures, but they knew enough to not let him near the field and notify family. Word has it Chris Simms is on his way to Foxboro for a tryout tomorrow. Being negative doesnt do anyone any good. From the angle I would say MCL and only partial ACL....and if that were true it would be a little less disastrous, not a complete rebuild. Hoping for a safe and speedy recovery.......

Re: Schefter:Brady already took MRI

So what's your feeling?

My feeling is that we won't know anything until the team actually announces it.

I think that the rumors of an ACL AND MCL tear are just that. RUMORS.

Re: Schefter:Brady already took MRI

you can interpret as you want. iam just conveying what i heard. he was pretty definitive in the report in what they had an mri in the stadium and confirmed it wasnt good.Plus the team never said they will do an MRI tommorow morning let everyone know. it was just being floated around as a norm.

SVN - Schefter was pretty definitive in his report when 2 years ago he said that Lavar Arrignton was signing with the Giants the 1st day of free agency. Arrington didn't get signed until late in the free agency process and for a fraction of the amount that Schefter reported.

Re: Schefter:Brady already took MRI

He gets stuff right all the time. As usual, you are in total denial.

Schefter gets stuff wrong all the time as well. As usual, you talk out your arse just to prove to everyone you can do it.

BS. BS. BS. Swelling most certainly does affect an MRI. I've had enough of them to know.

Also, are you really that stupid to think that the team wouldn't tell Brady's family that he was available for them to see?

As for not letting him near the field, on leg injuries in general, you typically get the person off it and start icing it down. You don't let them stand on it.

Re: Schefter:Brady already took MRI

You know at this point I'm just praying that the guy can play again. I'm sure you all remember Robert Edwards injury, if some of these rumors are true, it almost sounds like that with the multiple ligaments they are mentioning.

Theat's the dreaded "traid" of knee injuries. Worst case (it happened to my wife), and both ligments are blown out. He'll be rehabbing into next summer. Likely 12 months before he can play, perhaps 18 before he's fully back to 100%. Let's face it though, and 80-85% TB is still a top-5 starter in this league. If it's less severe, with just some tearing in there, he should be good by next year.

I appreciate the positive outlook, but reality seems to be indicating otherwise. We'll all know soon enough.

.

No, his was the whole "table-leg" injury. IIRC, he blewout 3 (MCL, PCL and ACL) and tore the 4th. He was also a RB.......... HUGE DIFFERENCE in the ability to come back and play after that injurt. TB will be back.

An mri machine seems like a pretty expensive thing to have in-house.
Is'nt there some sort of medical center as part of patriot place?

The Cowboys have one.

Edwards was a different case entirely. He completely sheared two of the ligaments and the 3rd was partially torn.

The medical industry is light years ahead of where it was when Edwards' injury occured. They can do complete ACL replacements arthroscopically. They couldn't do that back when Edwards was injured.

Enough of you, brat. You call me stupid for saying something that I didnt even say. Get your facts straight and if you want an intelligent arguement leave out the personal attacks, it makes you look like a 12 yr old girl.

espns ticker says hes havn a mri mon

Re: Schefter:Brady already took MRI

I hate to see ANYONE get injured, PERIOD. But its even worse when its one of the faces of the entire league like Tom Brady.

I hope and pray that its not serious and that he's back by week 9 for the showdown at the Luke.

Of course, with the way the Colts played last night, Cassel may blow them out anyway.

Classy post. If the same happened to Peyton.... I would feel the same way. You have to beat the best to be the best and w/o them it would be bittersweet IMHO.

Re: Schefter:Brady already took MRI

I agree, over the years, whether good or bad news, Schecter reliability rating 95+%.

Agree...I heard Peter King say he heard rumors of an ACL tear and Brady out for the season and thought...hey this is Peter King.

When I heard Schecter I thought this is probably a true story because most of the time he is right on. Adam also added that he heard it is an ACL and MCL tear. Now that would not be good news.
