Report: Dobson will be placed on IR (Now Official)

New development on Dobson as of this morning. He will indeed be placed on injured reserve, according to a source. His season is over.

Yeah, because in the 10 games (5 starting) that Thompkins has played for the Patriots/Raiders this season, he has a whopping 15 receptions for 170 yards and zero TDs.

Bummer. Well, glass-half-full, at least hitting on LaFell in FA makes this much less of a big deal than it would've been otherwise. Still not an encouraging sign for his long-term development, though.

I think he has next season to prove himself. His foot surgery may never have given him his full speed and mobility back and his injury on Sunday could have been because of him favoring his other leg.

If he doesn't rebound next year early, he may not make the 53 man roster. Should have had the surgery right after the season. Might have saved this season for him.

I agree, but I also expect the Pats to bring in some competition at split end, whether through FA or the draft. Some very talented split ends will likely end up going day 3.
