Count your blessings. First of all, it was "written" (bloviated) by Bob George. Second, Bob George was 5 years old when JFK was assassinated and now he wants to regale us with his "personal recollections."

Five years old? No milk & cookies that day Bob George? What a disingenous tool.

Rozelle (that POS) dropped the ball big-time on this one:

I was in utero. Shall I give you my recollections? Bob probably remembers as much as me...

On the real point, that the NFL played on, we are looking at this from a different time period where things like this are treated differently. Back then I think it was more of a, "Suck it up and bravely go on, even if you are in shock" mentality. Now, it goes overboard the other way. Everyone stops what they are doing and wrings their hands and grieves for days over events that have no connection to their own personal lives, and there is tribute after tribute after tribute. Not sure which one is worse, but I wish there was common ground. If the JFK assassination happened today surely there would be no games this weekend, but back then I bet it gave fans a little bit of normalcy through a terrible time.

It absolutely was NOT a "suck it up and bravely go on" moment for the country. The entire country was devastated, his death was a big blow to anyone who had dreams and aspirations towards a better world. If anything, it furthered the schism between the left and right, a growing problem that has reached new heights in separation in this time and day.

You haven't remembered anything from that sort of age?

Granted I'm still only 23, but I remember quite clearly my sixth birthday....largely because it was quite a large celebration.

Sometimes when big event happen, it can create a lasting impression on your memory. That's hardly uncommon knowledge.

I wouldn't use disingenuous either...it normally applies when someone acts like they know less than they actually do...not more. Usually helps when you at least try and insult someone in the right context ;) Way to make yourself look good! Post reported. I'd use that word to describe yourself given that post!
