I think the cap hit is too big if they let him go, likely one of the other backs goes if they need a spot.

I just want to say -- I understand your skepticism since there's no 'source' attached, but the ProJo mandated last year that we cannot use the term 'according to a source' in our stories. It's not a rule that I agree with, but it is a rule I have to abide by.

Actually, I didn't mean to sound skeptical. I just wanted to mention it so we weren't inundated by "what's the source" posts.

Just kidding, had to say it. Actually, Fred Taylor has been one of my favorite non-Pats players for the past decade. I would love to see him come here at a reasonable price. I'm not holding my breath, but I would love for it to be so.

You're right on the cap #. Cinci may be willing to give up their 3rd Rounder (#6 in Rd 3) but I don't see it happening. Taylor could teach Maroney a lot about being a 1st Rd pick with an injury history and how to fight through it and succeed.

Btw, I've always admired Fred Taylor as a player and would be excited about this signing.

Then he did pretty well for a awhile.

I'm kinda lukewarm to this signing. How much does Taylor have left? He was mediocre last year (556 yards, 1 TD, 3.9 YPC), but the Jags o-line was a mess. But he did lose a lot of carries to Maurice Jones Drew.

If he signs for short money, it is a no lose situation. But I ain't expecting much if he does.
