So is everyone else. You're just choosing not to predict how it will play out (which is fine).
Why should I? I have no idea how it's going to go. He could be a great coach. He could be an unmitigated disaster. He could be .500. IT's going to come down to players and especially the QB. Someone said that it's a players game. In the end, it'll be whether or not he can get the most out of the players AND have a good QB.

Speculating is fun. Giving your opinion/thoughts is the entire point of a message board. I don't disagree with anything you said for the record.

Yeah, guys get married to an opinion that's based on a feeling, and then stick with it for years. Seems silly to bet that he's gonna be a failure and then hope to be right just be be right on some internet forum.

I dunno man. I hope he does great, and they win and the train gets back on the tracks. It's all gonna come down to the play of the QB unless the league changes the rules to favor the defense... unlikely.

I like it. It seems like they had a succession plan in place, which is a good practice. And I'm not a fan of "blowing it up." There is more good than bad associated with the Patriot way in my opinion so some continuity is good. But as others have noted, we really don't know much about Mayo himself. I don't think I've ever heard or seen him speak.

Poll should have had a "Should have blown it all up" choice, IMO.

Hate to say it. But it honestly seems like a stop gap. Hits all the correct buttons organizationally, except the obvious one.

I’m thinking it’s gonna be 360 from how Bill coached. We shall see
Tom Cruise What GIF

Excited about the move, but not really expecting a quick turnaround. Hopeful that we will make better personnel decisions.

Wasn't my first choice or even my second but overall I like Mayo as the guy. I think the GM and offensive coaching staff are just as important, if not more though.
Especially with how little experience Mayo has as a head coach he's going to need a lot of help.

Also please clean house in the personnel department, don't want groh or wolf back as retreads. Let's get one of the proven GMs who have built good NFL rosters already, not the same guys who helped picked the scrubs over the past couple of years.

Negatives:
Not sure how he fixes the offense
And if he brings in an OC that does fix the offense, not name Josh McDaniels, good chance the OC gets poached
The trick will be to have two people (The OC, Assistant) involved in the game prep and planning process, and allow them to call plays, so they develop the process of planning and in game play calling... If one gets the call up to the big chair, the other gets the promo, and any lateral move can be blocked... wegot caught with our pants down when Josh decided to leave... it shouldn't have been a surprise, after his flirtations with Indy

I am thinking he's 100% not going to be a Bill clone in every aspect.
Well I’m sure there’s many Patriot fans as well as management that agrees. Kraft rode Bills success, Bill rode Brady’s success. Things went south, Kraft took the reins back. Now he’s got a guy he can control, or at least on a shorter leash. Guess we will see how that goes.

There’s nothing that’s happened in the last 24 years to indicate Kraft wants to control the head coach.
