The hype on Hernandez is out of control. The Patriots haven't had a TE have success in quite awhile, and I can't even remember a TE who could run have success with them SINCE RUSS FRANCIS!!! Ben Coates was a big immovable lug.
Even last night, Hernandez was not often lead downfield, but was doing typical TE stuff, fighting for position, running possession routes. Yes, Hoyer hit him on that beauty 20 yards downfield, and that's what the team needs. But until I see the Patriots O better utilize the TE position, the kid's talent will go into an incubator.
Dave Thomas looks better as a Saint than he did as a Patriot.
lol, agreed completely. Hernandez has done a bit to make a name for himself in training camp and his first preseason game. But the comparisons to Dallas Clark are a little premature at this point. Clark has spent years in the nfl getting to the top of the te class. As good as it is to have a player like Hernandez I think it will take a little more time to develop. Yes I want him to be a rookie sensation just like the next fan, but like Kon I am going to temper my expectations for now.
