OT: Braylon Edwards arrested with DUI

Here is how the suspension SHOULD happen, even though it won't:

Edwards- 8 games (this + the Stallworth connection + the nightclub incident + the 120mph driving incident)
Ferguson- 1 game
Gholston- 1 game (or they should make the Jets play him all game)

These guys should also face penalties. Not just by the NFL, but by the law. Knowingly driving with a drunken moron and endangering innocents.

I don't care if an athlete wants to blow coke or smoke weed. This is much different.

Maybee we should more worry about beating the jets first rather than laughing at all thier faults... they were right for the picking on sunday and this team is not good enough to beat the jets....

Boomer and Carton are the worst sports show around. Carton is a loud mouth who plays a very tired character and Boomer acts like mother Theresa.

Add in the fact that Carton was reporting a guaranteed NFL suspension that would most likely be 4 games when upon further investigation the much much more likely situation is being placed is a fine with no suspension.

what a complete blind homer joke...yeah, if it was a Patriot that got stopped blitzed drunk, twice past the limit, on probation for a previous drunken driven idiocy, you'd be going nuts....how would you feel about your unbelievably stupid defense of this cretin if he happened to smash into YOU and YOUR family...twice the legal limit DRUNK?????????

What's the crime in calling a cab? Are these jokers afraid their gonna find their escalades on blocks. Cab 40 bucks>afternoon in Roger's office.

Look, it's a classless franchise regardless of whatever short-term success they enjoy on the field. The fact they won Sunday doesn't change anything.

And the fact that the commish will look the other way over his Jets.

If nothing short of a 4 game suspension comes from this, it will hopefully be obvious that Roger Goodell hates us.

Edwards will suit up Sunday according to the Jets GM. The NFL has confirmed with the Jets that this is a substance issue not a personal conduct issue. Per the CBA the team is not allowed to initiate any punishment and the league can only act after Braylons next court date. The Jets will not start Edwards and his play time is at the discretion of Rex Ryan.

What a joke. If Edwards doesn't start but then plays AT ALL, it's an empty gesture. They need him to win and that's it. So much for Wrecks being up in arms and matters of principle.

If he doesn't see the field then the Jets did the right thing. If they play him they did the wrong thing. I'll be disappointed if they let him play.

It's not even going to cost him $40 ... Tannenbaum said that the Jets have a program in place so that the players can get a ride if they can't legally drive home.

There was a Seattle LB (Tatapu maybe?) a couple off-seasons ago who got a DUI and was placed in the substance abuse program and didn't receive a suspension. So if this is Edwards' first offense, he would likely get the same treatment. But, if he was on probation and gets in the trouble with the law with this, I don't know how that wouldn't become a personal conduct issue. He then should be suspended.

If they are short sighted enough to play him, they will pay the price further down the road. Edwards already has teammates that are disappointed by his selfish behavior that are quoted in the media. To condone this kind of behavior by allowing him to play will impact the Jet's ability to teamwork and reflect poorly on the Jets as a team.

If left unchecked, the Jets will become the team of selfish players with whom the selfless ones aren't interested in playing. They will further their reputation as undisciplined players, driving away the disciplined. If a couple of games is worth impacting your future, then so be it. But I know BB would make the smarter choice and if Ryan can't see that, he will get what he deserves.

Did anyone expect the Jets to actually make a statement? They are the opposite of the Steelers.

The Steelers draft a bunch of talented turds, then realize they are always going to be turds, then try to get rid of them. See Plaxico Burress, Joey Porter, Santonio Holmes, Ben Roethlisberger.

The Jets understand that these turds are on the free agent market, realize that they'll always be turds, but sign them up anyway. See Braylon Edwards, Santonio Holmes, Bart Scott, Antonio Cromartie, Shaun Ellis.

The NFL has confirmed...right..THAT is "Roger Goodell..Commissioner" has confirmed that in this case it has nothing to do with HIS personal conduct rules, but rather, THIS time, the three LEGAL OFFENSES Edwards has been charged with are "a substance issue"...so Edwards can play...and the Patriots will be fined 1 MILLION DOLLARS AND A FIRST ROUND PICK becuase Bill Belichick had the temerity to question Overlord Omissioner's camera "placement" memo.

Got it...like everyone and everything associated with this pack of green sociopaths...anything goes and who cares...really, THIS ,in time, will be spun by RATDELL AND THE JET F.O., as a GOOD thing.

I give you credit for saying this. And I definitely will give your team credit if they bench him, but what are the chances for that happening if Tannenbaum already has said he'll suit up? You see, this is the type of thing that demonstrates the stark difference between our two teams. Your GM chimes in within hours of the incident and says he'll suit up. What kind if message does that send on accountability?

The court record is suddenly not available, so we'll have to wait and see if the terms of his probation come out.

I assume "inactive probation" means no requirement to be in contact with a probation officer, he just has to stay out of trouble for 1 1/2 years :nono:
But since there is no mention of alcohol it looks unlikely a DUI would trigger some of the suspended 180 days of jailtime. But who knows...

I grabbed this from an Ohio site (Probation - Frequently Asked Questions). Sounds like even if this is a probation violation, it could result in only additional fines or something without causing any of the suspended jail time to become active. The outcome would need to be decided in court.

What is the difference between Active and Inactive probation?
Active probation means that you must report to your probation officer. Generally, you will report once per month or as assigned by officer. Inactive probation means that you need not report to your probation officer during the balance of your probation; however, you are responsible to report ANY change in address, telephone numbers, and employment, contact with law enforcement or if you are TEMPORARILY leaving the state.

What happens when a probationer violates probation?
When the probation Department becomes aware of a potential probation violation, they will issue a notice to appear for a violation hearing unless the court orders that a warrant be issued. The notice will include a date and time for hearing and the specific violation that is alleged.

A hearing is conducted before the Judge where the probationer enters a plea and the matter is heard or set for a later date. Bond may be required if a later date is set.

If a probationer is found guilty, the Judge may impose the balance of suspended jail time and/or fines. The Judge may also “stay” the jail time on specific conditions, extend probation, add additional requirements or restrictions to the probation conditions such as house arrest, or treatment.

The failure to appear for a probation violation hearing will result in the issuance of a warrant for the arrest of the probationer and a warrant block on driving privileges, vehicle registration and issuance of an operator's license.

Guy should be in jail, as should all DUI offenders.

Guy should be in jail, as should all DUI offenders.

In R.I., ANY violation of probation is a 32-F offense....you go to jail and await a hearing to reconcile...in this case any or all of the 180 days he was suspended for.

Either Ohio law is starkly different from RI law OR there has been a CRIMINAL act committed by Jet management in collusion with "NFL Offices"
, read Roger Goodell.

E-mail or call local FBI offices and demand an investigation. This is an organized criminal conspiracy.
