Well this is the true down time pre FA so I got to thinking most of us here now will no see super bowl 100 in 2066 I personally will be 87 if I make it. So I thought it would be fun to predict where the NFL will be then so here we go.

In the next 42 years they will expand by 16 teams creating a 48 team league with 3 conferences and 12 4 team divisions

There will be the AFC the NFC and the GFC.

here are your teams
AFC East = Buffalo, New England, New Jersey and Baltimore
AFC North = Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus
AFC South = Tennessee, Indiana, St. Louis, Kansas city
AFC West = Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, Salt Lake City

NFC East = Carolina, Atlanta, Miami, Birmingham
NFC North = Green Bay, Detroit, Chicago, Minnesota
NFC Texas = Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Austin
NFC West = San Francisco, Sacramento, Seattle, Arizona

GFC Island = Tokyo, Sydney, Hong Kong, Honolulu
GFC Europe = London, Dublin , Rome, Berlin
GFC Canada= Ottawa, Vancouver, Portland,
Anchorage
GFC America = New York City, Philadelphia, Oklahoma City, Memphis

Some teams moved.
Jacksonville moved to St. Louis

New Orleans to Salt Lake City

Washington to Columbus

Tampa Bay to Birmingham

Carolina to Myrtle Beach but stayed Carolina

The NFL decided on one team per city so the LA and NY teams played a series of 3 off season games winner gets to pick to stay or go.

The Chargers won the LA series so the Rams Moved to Sacramento

The Giants won so they moved to NYC proper and the Jets became New Jersey

All the expansion was international. The attempt in Mexico and South America failed epically with a team in Mexico Argentina and the 2 in Brazil relocating to Austin, San Antonio, Memphis and Oklahoma City.

The Mexico City team moved to Portland.

Paris was an expansion team but moved to Rome

Toronto got a team but it was too crowded near Buffalo so they moved to Ottawa.

Montreal moved to Anchorage.

An attempt in New Zealand failed they moved to Honolulu.

Major Rule changes
Late in the game with the time allowed based on deficit you can attempt a 4th and 20 from your 30 to keep the ball after scoring

Double pass from behind the LOS allowed.

OT takes a college style except you start at the 5

The draft has dropped to 6 rounds but there are more picks total and more comp picks.

There is a weighted draft lottery for non playoff teams

The play offs are 20 teams with the division winners and 8 wildcard teams the wild card teams play into the round of 16. The division winners are NOT locked into a home game just a playoff spot

The season is 26 games. With 5 rounds in the playoffs. And 3 bye weeks per team making it a 34 week season.

AFE= NE 21-5, Buf 17-9, Bal 17-9, NJ 7-19.

That was creative af.

Ok.

a) a lot of those cities will be underwater (I don't see there being enough oxygen to sustain an underwater city or even stadium). Floating Dome Stadium?
b) it will be flag football (ffs)
c) Goodell will still be Commissioner but he'll be a mad cyborg (forever haunted by some ghost named Jeff O'Neill aka Joe Kerr).
d) tickets will be so expensive just the upper crust will be able to afford it.

Oh gee. Thanks for the healthy dose of reality to bring everything down a notch!! ;)

"Football shower"

With the teams or the ball?

New Orleans wont move.

People there love the Saints win or lose.

I can see Jacksonville moving, but St Louis does not have the money for a new stadium and the current Edward Jones dome is a pile of crap.

It's wild to think about what the league will look like in 42 years. Reminds me of those late-night conversations with friends, speculating about where things will be years down the line. While we're on the topic of long-term predictions, have you ever tried making predictions for the Premier League? It's always interesting to see how the dynamics of football evolve over time.

a) The best news in all this is that the numerous disasters that are a hair's breadth away didn't happen at all.
b) or, an even more violent game, with real weapons, to help reduce the prison population
c) in one of its best moves, Artificial Intelligence (start calling it "Master" now and beat the rush) will have seen the idiocy of Goodell and replaced the position with 1/100 of an Nvidia chip.
d) the few that haven't been eaten yet.
