Speaking of Nolan, did he make a quickie exit with no handshake ? The cameras showed Belichick clearly looking for someone and seeming surprised not to find whoever; I'm guessing that was Nolan.

Never, never, NEVER, does BB criticize his players in that way in public.

What Nolan is effectively saying is "You criticize me for not using Davis properly, but let me tell you that the problem is his cr*ppy play". Even if that were true (ESPECIALLY if it were true) Bill would never say that about a player. And if it means that he or the coaches are criticized unfairly as a result, so be it.

Reminds me again why I love Bill Belichick.

Exactly - Belichick is the only honest to god real players coach in this league. Lots of 'em blow smoke up their stars asses only to publicly ream 'em when the going gets tough.

And I too thought Bill was looking for Nolan but on a replay I saw they met up quickly - it was someone else - maybe Martz or JT - he was searching for.

Nolan should be thankful that the refs did not call 'blow to the head' on SF when the rusher hit Cassel's helmut. Actually I'm thankful they did NOT call it as well as it would have been a (name for kittens that got censored) call.

That's right. He saves it for the players themselves and it drives the media nuts!

Wow. We're so lucky to have BB-no wonder the players love and respect him so much. He's never, ever spoken like that about any player on the team or off.

Does he not know the rule? You touch the helmet, it's a 15 yarder. It's been that way for years.

Except the one time Vrabel did it against Kurt Warner :p

I'm sorry, but if you are good at pass blocking and run blocking, and you were drafted to be the next Antonio Gates (a pass catcher) and you can't run a route straight or catch the ball, I would not say that you have 2 out of 3 things down. That doesn't make any sense to me.

It makes sense once you realize Nolan is an idiot. Honestly, here in the Bay Area I just listen to his press conferences for giggles.

he said some very similar things about Tully yesterday after the game, I actually felt kinda bad for TBC...he wasn't the greatest player but he didn't do no wrong by the club. anywho, you read TBC quotes saying he was thankful to get the chance to get out and prove himself and hopefully they saw what he could do, then you read Nolans quotes and he's like "yea, we gave him a shot hoping it would inspire him to show us something but ya know...well I have to see the tape..but ya know, our pass rush wasn't effective or something so I guess that tells you what you...well I guess I should watch the film before I say anything really..."

I thought it was funny that Nolan pointed out a couple of negatives and used the word bust without any leading.

Now, there might be a reason for it, as there is in almost all BB/Brady press conferences. If you read between the lines in almost every press conference, the message is to the players. Perhaps Nolan was trying to motivate the TE. Also, perhaps, Nolan is an idiot.

Wow, Nolan is a prick! But then again he seems pretty frustrated that Vernon Davis hasn't done jack with his 4.38 speed.

maybe nolan should concentrate more on winning games, instead of whining. the penalty call was the right call, no question about it. games are played in full speed, not slow motion instant replay (of course, sometimes thats not true).

This reminds me of the playoff game with Indy a few years ago when they tried a "wild cat" type of direct snap to Edge while Manning was in motion. It was illegal and the Colt announcers, fans, and staff had no clue. They had practiced it all week for use in that game. What a waste of practice time. It amazes me how many coaches do not know the on-field rules.
