Moss '07-09 or Gronk right now: which player is/was more valuable to the offense?

The 99 MN team was the best he was on. 97 was better for yds per game and he threw less INTs per throw.

Have you seen the receiving corp that he had to work with? 3500yds and 30tds with that receiving corp?

Moss rule was in effect and the entire offense suffered.

1.) He also threw less TD's per throw, by quite a bit. 94 and 95 there were no arguments in your favor.

and the "Moss rule". The offense didn't suffer. As you said already, Minnesota scored more points when Moss was in the game. This, despite the fact that in the smaller sample size, two of the games were against defenses ranked 30th and 32nd overall.

Now you can talk about his playoff stats with the Pats maybe. However the Vikings he was off the charts besides 2000 NFCCG.

He has 47 grabs for 865 yards & 10 TD's in 12 games. Most of that with the Vikings.

The 98 NFCCG he had 3 grabs for 60 yards & TD in the first half! With Cunningham. He had a adominal strain & was in & out of the lineup the rest of the game.

In 99' with George he had 14 grabs for 325 yards & 3 TD's in 2 games!

In 00' with Culpepper he had just 2 grabs against the Saints. For 121 yards & 2 TD's. A 59 yard TD & 61 yard TD.

Seems to me he wiped his ass with the defense more then not. In Minny that is.

Let's not forget that he got 10 yards behind the defense during the NFC Championship game in OT, on a play that would have been a 70 yard Touchdown if Cunningham didn't underthrow him by a mile (similar to the Cassel play against the Jets a few year back).

In '95 George had higher comp %, more yards per game and less INTs per throw.

His year in 97 was better.

Simply put, Jeff George has better QB years in other places than MN.

I'll take Gronk! Don't get me wrong, I love Moss and he was a freak of a talent on the football field. but so is Gronk. gronk has the perfect blend of size, speed, hands, route running that you are looking for in a tight end. And even better he is a fearsome blocker who can be used on every single down, not just as a decoy but as a contributor on running plays. Gronk is the prototype of the new breed of tight end in the NFL. Not just a big guy who blocks and occassionally catches, but a premiere offensive weapon that gives defenses matchup nightmares. Throw Hernadez into the mix as well and you create TOTAL CHAOS!
