Everyone's an idiot sometimes.
Ok, maybe not Chuck Norris..........
I think what keeps that particular Borges quote alive are a couple of factors. One is the writer. Borges has long been known a writer who has an agenda and will follow his agenda before following the truth (and this pains me because he is a very good writer).
Secondly, there is wrong, then there is WRONG, and then there is REALLY WRONG!!!!!. His comment was so COMPLETELY wrong its, like I said, painful. Its one thing to under or overestimate a pick, but he not only massively whiffed on his assessment of Seymour and Light; he astoundingly picked perhaps the 3 biggest busts of the 2001 draft as picks the Pats SHOULD have made.
In one short paragraph Borges managed to be totally wrong 5 times. That is worthy of being in the HOF of wrongness.....and THAT's why the quote keeps popping up....and its why it will continue to do so in the future.
