I'm thrilled that Light wasn't suspended, but at the same time a bit confused. The league fined Wilfork $35,000 for two things: 1) elbowing Cutler in the helmet in what they deemed a fashion that did not prove there was intent; and 2) for his reputation as a 'cheap' player...can't say I agree with this as I've seen just one play (the eye poke) that showed him to be anything but a hard, clean player (and I'm including the Losman hit in this...how do you deem a hit late when the player doing the hitting is on the ground--there's just no way for him to see whether the ball's been released or not).
Meanwhile, Light gets fined almost 1/3rd that amount, for essentially grabbing a dudes hair and repeatedly punching him in the face...what provoked this? A somewhat late, somewhat high hit from Crowder, and supposedly a whole lot of smack talking. I just don't get it...you have an on-field fight with multiple punches garnering a $15k fine, and what they deemed to be an elbow that may or may not have been intentional garnering a $35k fine. Talk about double standards.
Because, simply put, fist fights are GREAT for the NFL.
