....to have one of their players to stick their neck out onto a chopping block. Personally, I find his comments to be absurd and a little disturbing, but he has the right to feel this way. It's just that he should keep it to himself and shut the **** up about it. What is it with these guys? They all seem to either play for the Jets, Steelers, or Ravens.

Rooney says Mendenhall's comments hard to comprehend

Only Mendenhall could try to paint bin Laden as misunderstood hero. Maybe he was hoping that bin Laden would free him and his fellow slaves (i.e. NFL players) from the evil plantation owners (NFL owners). First he makes the stupid comments that there are a lot of parallels between slavery and the current labor situation of the players and now this.

Rashard is portraying himself in a way that won't prove positive. I'd suggest to him, from a PR standpoint, to minimize his opinions when it comes to controversial topics such as 9/11.

How exactly did Mendenhall paint Bin Laden as a misunderstood hero?

most of his Tweets are about how disgusting it is to rejoice in the death of another. I agree with him on that.

I don't have a problem with it. I just find it rather hypocritical that people who decry terrorism are rejoicing in the killing of someone for political reasons.

Especially those who claim to be Christian.

this is usually true however, you failed to see the asterik at the end which states:

*unless the person killed was responcible for mass murder

More than 1/2 of the world's population claims this isn't true. (anyone who claims to be christian, muslim, etc.)

I think bin Laden was an assclown of gigantic proportions, but I think celebrating his death makes you not much better. Some of us prefer not to sink to that level.

Please spare us your self righteousness. I consider myself to be a good person that treats others the way I would expect to be treated. I for one am a man that is subject to emotions that overcome me. I feel pride and rejoice knowing that bin Laden got what he deserved and I'll always feel that way. When and if someday I may find myself being judged by my creator I will feel the same way and make no excuse for it.

Agreed. I find those comments, at least, a lot less disturbing than a whole lot of stuff that's been popping up on my Facebook feed lately. (his comments about having to hear bin Laden's 'side of the story', otoh, are ridiculous. Bin Laden told his side of the story).

Some deaths truly are worth celebrating. For me personally those generally include the gutless jackholes who hide behind causes and others or who prey on the innocent in whose demise I'd have gladly actively participated given the opportunity. While vengence may best be reserved for a higher power, justice is another whole matter and in this long overdue case it was well served.

    Countdown to the correct forum...

I cannot think of a better example I've ever seen of the term "moral equivalence."

With great respect to you as a person, I'd advise you to think very carefully about what you are actually saying here. Many of us, I suspect, react to Bin Laden's death with images of innocent men and women plunging to their death from a burning skyscraper or incinerated in the airplane they by twist of fate they were riding in, and remember that Bin Laden not only ordered it but took great pride in his role in it happening.

It does not, in my mind, make someone morally superior to treat the death of a Bin Laden (or anyone with such depraved indifference to human life) as though it were the death of just another human. By extension of that logic, we should turn a blind eye to what everyone actually does and never feel like those who deviate from the boundaries of baseline acceptable conduct should be subject to justice.

This topic has nothing to do with football...why is it in this forum?

Why does every new installment on PFT get a new thread on PatsFans? It's getting ridiculous!

How about having one sticky thread devoted to PFT. I'm more than positive all board members here read PFT daily, so nothing is breaking news.

    A) That's not what his tweets were about, see the first one about the Towers.
    B) The world is a better place going forward with bin Laden dead and that is worth celebrating.

I'm sorry, who was killed for political reasons? I know who was killed for murdering many innocent people; I just haven't a clue who was killed for political reasons.

So Mendenhall is a 911 truther, big deal. I can't fault him for saying that he can't condone celebrating a man's death either. If he is a Christian then this way of thinking is in line with the teachings of Christ. Nothing to see here.

Whether you agree with Synovia or not, you're putting words in his mouth. I also find the whole last paragraph to be a pretty questionable interpretation to the whole point.

Conspiracies.......inside jobs......blame at the highest levels.....

Maybe he got his tweets confused and was really talking about officiating and Super Bowl XL.
