Seriously? Goddell is a bad commissioner, because his father intervened on his behalf when he was in high school?..
no, Goodell demonstrated thuggish behaviour towards fans of other teams while attending Jet games when he was in high school. This predilection suddenly disappeared when he entered the workforce of the NFL as a JET intern?...or was it simply stuffed under a veneer? Of course, you have already minimized these incidents by using this lame disclaimer "just because daddy intervened for good 'ol just having fun Rog"...obviously, you are just calloused towards anybody who has had negative interactions with Goodell, preferring to minimize HIS behaviour and IGNORE the victims because "oh well, tee hee hee, boys will be boys".
Huh? The CBA was done before Goddell. There is nothing he could have done after becoming commissioner... other than sign another bad deal......
Huh??? That statement is RIDICULOUS. HE doesn't sign ANYTHING!! He SHOULD have worked much much harder at getting both sides together and work out a deal BEFORE a potentially crippling strike.Instead he chose to spend the intervening seasons since his hiring to grandstand in the press with all his "good for the game" decisions".... A ten year deal which is fair to all parties was the very best possible outcome, and Roger nailed it.
Roger nailed NOTHING! There was a complete impasse until Goodell was removed from the negotiations and relegated to the sidelines as an onlooker, while owner Robert Kraft sat down with the head of the player's union, DeMaurice Smith, and hammered out the NEW agreement. Then, when the sticky issues were overcome, Goodell comes swooping back in to grab all the glory as "savior of football!!"....Jeff Saturday, of course, let the whole world know who was primarily responsible...Perhaps you were on another planet when all this occurred...“A special thanks to Myra Kraft who even in her weakest moment allowed Mr. Kraft to come and fight this out and without him this deal does not get done. I don’t want to be climatic in any way, but he is a man who helped us save football. We’re so gracious for that, we’re gracious for his family and for the opportunity he presented to get this deal done.”..What would you have done differently?
what I would have done, was what WAS done...get Goodell out of the negotiations until a deal could be struck.
Utter nonsense without a shred of support.
utter nonsense? smoke but no fire?..it is exactly people like YOU that march to the beat of the "it can't be!!!" drummer that ALLOWS criminal conspiracy to take firm root.
Before Ivan Boesky and that arbitrage scandal, YOU are exactly that type of guy right there extolling his virtues before the Beverly Hills Hotel Corporation.
Before Watergate, YOU would have uttered "nonsense" if anyone broached the subject of corruption...as John Mitchell so eloquently stated to the Washington Post... "utter nonsense without a shred of support"...of course you would have turned out to be a FOOL.
Bernard Madoff, ten years ago...YOU would have cried "utter nonsense!!!" if anyone suggested he built his empire through a gigantic Ponzi scheme.
There is nothing unintentional there. I disagree with Goddell's decisions all the time. But I respect him for acting in the best interests of the game as he understands it, instead of being cowed into inaction by the legions of haters. Your reams of paranoid innuendo make my point...
this is rich...I POSTED the fines and sanctions Goodell handed out to the Patriots and then the fines and sanctions handed out to the Jets...reams of FACT...either YOU do not understand simple mathematics or you are being deliberately obtuse. Personally, I find a rich, spoiled little brat throwing a temper tantrum and fining an NFL team a million dollars, with untold subsequent monetary ramifications and stripping a first round pick building block to be REPREHENSIBLE...especially when one contrasts THAT decision with the decision to fine the NY Jets head coach and FACE of the franchise a mere 50 K for THIS...
...let's make it even MORE blatant...
Goodell has continually pushed HIS "goody two shoes " agenda yet when THIS happens...all of a sudden it's 100% spin control, Rex being Rex, har har yuck and "we love Rex so much , we'll pay the fifty thousand dollar fine" coming from the players and coaching staff...in print, in Goodell's face...and N-O-T-H-I-N-G. Who ultimately PAID that slap on the wrist? Do YOU know??? Does your precious Commissioner Herodell? I KNOW who paid the obscene, preposterous and most likely CRIMINAL fines imposed by Goodell on the Patriots...Bob Kraft, the Patriots Organization and ALL Patriots fans.
I certainly disagreed with Roger's decision on Spygate. But Roger didn't create the situation in the public press. That mess was a result of the Patriots and Mangini.
heh...watch out for that land mine!!!!!...oops...TOO LATE...the week before the opener with the Pats, on a Thursday, Eric Mangini had a meeting in the NFL headquarters,280 Park Avenue New York, with Roger Goodell. No one in the media has EVER found out the particulars of that meeting. It took me a week of corresponding and then visiting NFL headquarters in NYC to get a look at the check-in log for that date. There it was, Eric Mangini 3:30 P.M. I POSSESS a copy of this sign in and a validation from security at NFL headquarters as to its veracity. What was discussed at that meeting??? Do YOU have any idea?? Maybe they talked about "utter nonsense!!!!". I doubt it. Subsequent to this meeting, after the Jets lost to the Patriots, Spygate broke and all hell with it..And his ultimate decision was entirely consistent with his overriding disciplinary theme: whatever makes the NFL look bad has to go.
except a drunken, finger flippin' Rex Ryan, a toe fetishist degenerate Rex Ryan, a dead beat player with nine wives who doesn't even know half his kids names, a drunk driving menace to society, a blatant in game tripper of opposing players forming a wall and committing in game acts of assault and, to top it all all, a old drunk, special teams coach blabbering how it's all Bill Belichick's fault. I suppose THIS is all "utter nonsense@!!!" in YOUR dimensional reality...wherever the hell THAT is.
If the national press had adopted an attitude of "it was just a misunderstanding over a memo", I am sure the outcome would have been different. Unfortunately, just about the only people who saw it this way were Patriots fans.
..yeah ..unfortunately...just like the millions of Poles and Hungarians who saw the German blitzkrieg while the idiotic Neville Chamberlains applauded the "good job Adolph is doing!!!", Patriots fans are left to defend every single game their team plays. Patriots fans children grow up being bombarded with the totally moronic sound bytes of Joey Porter clones, disgruntled Marshall Faulk bobble heads and holier than thou, preachy denunciations by the Kurt Warners and Steve Youngs....but good ol' Rog is doing a great job!!!!
