Obviously, this is a "when healthy" thing, but it was inspired by this comment on the Demps thread:
Over the last four seasons, only one player has (A) had 20+ punt returns, and (B) a better PR average (Edelman has averaged 13.13 YPR); that player is Leodis McKelvin (>16 YPR!).
Impressively, that is also the second highest average since the AFL-NFL merger.
[FWIW, going back before the Super Bowl era, he only ranks 31st; the vast majority of the players ahead of him played in the 1940s.]
Good point. People forget that Edelman is a historically good punt returner because his presence on the field is always so spotty. If he can stay healthy, there's certainly no need for competition at that position.
