At the half of the regular season the league lost 5-6 starting QBs to injuries:
Rodgers
Luck
Watson
Palmer
Tannehill
(Bradford)
At least 7 more missed games/playing through significant injuries well under 100%
Flacco, Cutler, Carr , Siemian, Winston, Newton, Mariotta
That's just too much.
That's definitely a lot but not much can be done about it unless they make tackling the QB illegal. They've done a lot to protect QBs -- I just don't know what else can be done.
Best protection against QB injury: get a good OL then tell your QB to stay in the pocket as much as possible. That won't eliminate all injuries, obviously, but those roll outs where the QB is throwing with an awkward body position is going to make for being tackled in an awkward (and likely more injurious) way. But even that won't come close to stopping QB injury.
