I thought it would be good to have a thread about guys from other teams who the Patriots may be able to acquire either via waivers, free agency(if a veteran) or trade prior to the start of the season.
I watched the Vikings first preseason game (and see a lot of Vikings regular season games) and they are exceptionally deep on the defensive line.
Jayme Mitchell had a great game against the Rams and is 6'6 285 which would make him an interesting option at DE in the Patriots system (also plays DE in the Vikings 4-3).
Fred Evans didn't do anything spectacular, but has been a nice player for the Vikings since they picked him up. He does have past character issues from his time with the Dolphins, but that's probably 3 years ago now. Evans is 6'4 305, but has spent all of his time playing DT for the Vikings. I think he could convert to end in the Patriots system and possibly be an upgrade to the bottom of the roster.
Neither of these guys are a lock to make the Vikings, and I'd probably give up a draft pick for Mitchell. This is his second year off of an ACL surgery and he seems like the type of guy who's best football is ahead of him.
I am not insinuating that either of these guys is the next Adam Seward, just that they are interesting names to keep an eye on if they become available in the next couple weeks.
Anyone else notice any players who might be on the wrong side of a roster battle, but might be able to help the Patriots?
