1. I think people should be happy that Garapolo, at this point, looks like the best QB BB has drafted in the Brady era. In other words a QB would actually might HAVE some trade value down the road.
2. From what we heard, its fairly clear that had he come out THIS year he'd have been a strong #3 in the QB rankings with Winston and Marriota, and very likely a first round pick. I'm not sure if that says more about the state of this year's QB class, than Jimmy's skills.
3. All that being said, he's still a year away from being ready to run an NFL offense....and more likely 2.
4. It should be noted that Bret Farve AFTER he left the Packers had a very good year going with the Jets until he got hurt, and a GREAT one with the Vikes. Yet getting rid of him was clearly the right thing to do for the Packers and Aaron Rodgers, who spent 3 years watching before he got his shot.
5. BTW- ever wonder how Aaron Rodgers career might have gone IF he'd been the #1 pick or went to a team that was forced to start him right away? I wonder if it would have been as successful without those years of sitting on the bench.
6. There is NO chance that Jimmy Garapolo is going to be as good as Tom Brady. That's a ridiculous assumption. We should just be hoping that he's a good NFL QB and as good or better than Tom Brady at 40. Because if he is, then he will either be running the Pats offense in 2017, or be running someone else's offense because he was traded. Both those outcomes are good ones.
7. Finally, none of this matters much, because Jimmy Garapolo isn't going to see any significant time on the field other than TC, (barring injury) for the next TWO years.....and THAT's a good thing too.
