Hes so freaking big, thigh-highs (compared to Gronk) like Ward need to go for the knees to have any chance of bringing him down.

Being an outstanding run blocker isn't helping extend his career either.

By the time hes 29 he'll be 1/2 what he was.

See I feel that's somewhat untrue. You can get him mid thigh and hold on. Yes hes a beast. Ward isn't a skinny dude himself. I see it all the time with clean players who wrap/delay for the gang tackle. Only someone who wants to cause harm goes low. I almost think a hit was put out the year before and Ward accepted. It isn't a coincidence that Horseface signed him and the first chance he did it again. That was part of the deal.

Jason Witten is borderline to 2nd ballot HoF. Great player. Great person.

Gronk is transcendent. A major oversight not to include him.

If Gates makes the Hall of Fame and Witten doesn't, something went wrong. But I don't think either will make it, it's just very hard for tight ends. There's, what, 7? Mackey, Casper, Ditka, Newsome, Sanders, Winslow, Sharpe? Missing any? They're all better than Witten ever was, even at the top of his game.

Peak Gronk is obviously the greatest tight end who's ever played, bar none, and he'll be a first ballot lock if he makes it to age 30 without his knees or back totally giving out.
