What makes you think we would have been able to get back to the redzone ? The Patriots offense was terrible in the entire game.
their starting safeties were out at that point.

Or we'd be *****ing that the D couldn't make a stop, when they needed too.And if Manning runs out the clock, you'd be *****ing that they didn't go for it on 4th and 1. Fact is that going for it was the CORRECT CALL. The actual play call was horrible. They could have attempted to draw Denver off-sides. If they are going to call a play, why not use the old direct snap to the RB while Brady pretends it went over his head. THAT play is perfect for when teams think you are going to pass it..
3 points in the 2nd half. And that drive started around the Broncos 40 yd line if i recall. Defense got stunned a bit early by Manning, but played excellent after that. 6 pts in the last, what, 45 mins? Good enough to win, for sure. What? Denver scored 20 points. That's hardly "stopping everything Denver was doing".
No, you play with what you have. They mix it up and Denver is forced into different coverages, or pass rushers keep running and tackling air.
They didn't assume they needed to be creative, deceptive, get quick openers? It's been that way for months.
If you knew there was no way we were scoring a TD there why would you think they'd put together another TD drive after that? Are scoring TDs easier when you don't know you need a 2 pt conversion after? Not reading through 9 pages. Not taking the FG was ridiculous when we had been stopping them on O all 2nd half. It might not have won the game, but I KNEW there was no way we were scoring a TD and a 2 pointer right after.

Not sure when/if I will be watching the All22 but my initial impression was that Denver simply flooded the near and intermediate game and was able to cover up the first and sometimes second read until the pass rush got to Brady.
We tried draw plays and some screens but Denver actually sniffed all of them out pretty consistently. Again if you bring an EXTRA lineman and the first play still results in an immediate sack then there are more fundamental issues at work.
Belichick has been making very poor coaching decisions for monthsOne other thing, geniuses!!! Our best chance to win was to give the ball back to manning. You kick the FG!!!!!! Not a challenging concept...
Like i said, Denver didn't have 14 players. I saw five players within yards of gronkowski on one play. WTF? Where's the adjustments? White, chandler and LaFell aen't game breakers, but cheesus, you can only cover so many and get 2-3 rushers too. It's simple arithmetic.
Holy hyperbole.. never saw more than 2 players consistently around Gronk but whatever.. main issue is that we are simply too one dimensional. We either need to be able to have a credible 1st/2nd down running threat or a WR that is a credible down field threat to open up more space in the intermediate game.
When we play against teams that have great coverage personnel AND a formidable pass rush we usually run into those problems. They flood he zone, disrupt timing and can get through our sieve OL to Brady before he can get to his third read.

I didn't say consistenly. It's on tape.
Like I said I am not sure I will torture myself through the All22 of this game but my live impression was that we tried a few things (screens, draw plays, runs, misdirections) but Denver didn't bite so we went back and hoped we could outplay them with our usual stuff and break a few.
The one thing I am very disappointed about is that Josh & Co. couldn't find a matchup they could exploit in the entire Denver defense. They all played very disciplined and consistent today.
In that situation... with SB on the line.. not kicking the FG very stupid coaching callAt the minim the pats needed a FG and a td to take the lead. For some reason they love to complicate things and take needless risks.
The Denver offense was not doing **** in the second half so it's not like the pats were not getting the ball back.
That was flat out idiotic play calling and it cost the pats the game. Of course since it's BB he will never own up to it and make some typical bs "we do what we think gives us the best chance to win."
