he did?...and you have hard copy proof of this?
and "stay off the stuff???"...where do you live, Sunnybrook Farm, Rebecca???...uh...see all those NFL players on every single team with those LONG DREADLOCKS? Hundreds and hundreds of players...see them? Dreadlocks...you know...signifying Rastafarian culture, the central theme being smoking marijuana? You actually think THEY are marijuana free but this rookie has a drug problem????? Hello blind...meet naive.
I don't use hemp. Know plenty of people who do. Could care less about it. The ONLY actually deleterious thing about it is its' illegal still, although that is changing slowly across the U.S.
This scurrilous journalism attempting to besmirch a defenseless kid and brand him as "bad" using the "evil weed" and "that stuff" right wing wacko tactic is sickening. As long as the kid isn't injecting steroids, popping amphetamines and smoking crack, I coulkd care less if he gets loose with a six pack OR a joint.
Wow. Evidently my post hit a very sensitive button with you. Hang in there, Jack
If you read my post anywhere coherently, you would see that I could care less about marijuana. However, evidently the NFL GM's who make the picks DO. THAT'S the story.
Think for a second: Hernandez won the freaking Mackey Award for the best TE in college last year......and he fell to the 4th round behind how many other TE's who didn't.
You ask for "proof"???? Did you NOT read the Breer link? Here's a piece that makes it a little bit obvious for the rest of us, Joker:
_____________
"According to sources with three NFL teams, the Florida product’s precipitous fall was because of multiple failed drug tests for marijuana as a collegian.
Hernandez was open about his marijuana use at the Scouting Combine in February. “He admits to it,’’ said one longtime NFL executive who interviewed him there.
“It’s good he did that,’’ said a college scouting official from one AFC team. “But it was enough to scare people so that he fell through three rounds.’’
_______________
Here's another example from a SOURCE CLOSE TO HERNANDEZ (aka, friend or agent):
_____________
"A source close to Hernandez said to his knowledge, the tight end failed just one drug test at Florida, in February 2008, but conceded the player’s marijuana use had been a problem and was the PRIMARY REASON FOR HISD FALL DOWN THE DRAFT BOARD" (caps mine).
____________
Need anymore obvious "proof", Sherlock?
So OBVIOUSLY, Joker, the test results showing marijuana had a measurable result in his DRAFT POSITION. It is what it is. I was making absolutely ZERO value judgements about the pros and cons of marijuana. Whatever the case, the folks who decide which player to take DID. Good for the Patriots - - they got a steal---as long as the NFL allows him to play in the future (once again, not MY value judgement, but the NFL makes the decision, ok?). In order for him to stay on the field (the only thing here I care about) he has to stay off the stuff. I would have used the same word "stuff" had it been Tylenol, High Fructose Corn Syrup or Wheaties.
The term "stuff" should not have sent you over the ledge, son.
