Re: Branch = T.O.

So what is he going to do?

Call Tom Brady gay?

Say that the team is lead by a choker since they are 0-1 in the playoffs on the road since the start of the 2005 season?

Complain that the team values its QB more than him?

Attack Belichick's leadership abilities?

There is a huge difference between Branch and TO. TO. is a dominant receiver when he steps on the field, to the point that some idiotic team was able to delude itself into overlooking the baggage because of his obvious talents.

Branch's abilities aren't so obvious to the naked eye, which is why you hear nonstop TO coverage on sports-talk radio, even though Branch is a much more important issue for their respective teams. If Branch were to be even half of the jackass that TO has been over the past two years, he would drop his earnings capacity by 30% overnight. And if he were smart he would know this as well. One of the attractions to Branch is his "team-first" mentality, because he isn't an uber-talent. He is just a good WR and a great teammate, until now.

Re: Branch = T.O.

These guys never learn. Jason Chayut is completley out of his league. What he fails to realize that this isn't some struggling underperforming franchise like San Francisco, or the Raiders. The Pats have won THREE rings in 5 years and that is why we have that phrase "In Belichick we trust".

The Patriots can get away with stuff other teams can't because of those rings. We give them the benefit of the doubt because they have delivered. Belichick knows it and he is going to milk it, and I say milk it while the milking's good. Chayut made the fatal mistake of going public with this Branch will return only if the Patriots agree not to franchise him. The patriots front office knows that everyone is looking at how they are handling and how its going to affect other contracts down the line. They are not going to let some young pup come in and dictate terms with them. Who knows if Chayut had gone to them privately the patriots might have well agreed not to franchise Branch next year, its not their MO anyways. But throw that in their face and they will mess you up !!

Some would say what about Seymour, well Seymour is arguably the best lineman in the NFL today, Branch is ... just Branch.

CBS Sportsline Advice

This is a release I just noticed while looking at my Fantasy Football team. If someone has already posted it my bad, but it seems like good news

"News: According to an unconfirmed source, CBS SportsLine.com has learned that WR Deion Branch, holding out of Patriots camp, is planning a return to the team within a week. The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity but does have knowledge of the situation, says Branch wants to "pull a T.O." and do whatever it takes to force the team to trade him, release him or not franchise tag him. Branch is in the final year of his contract, which pays him a little over $1 million -- a bargain considering the salaries of players around the league with a profile as high as Branch. The Patriots recently gave Branch time to seek a trade with another club, but as of now no trade is expected to happen.

Analysis: Based on what we've seen this preseason, the Patriots need Branch more than Branch needs the Patriots. He's a fantastic receiver capable of 900-to-1,000-yard seasons and can break short catches into long runs. As of now, Branch is slipping in drafts into middle-round territory, and that's a bargain considering that he'll play for a chunk of the regular season, if not all 16 games, most likely for the Patriots. Consider him a fair No. 2 Fantasy WR worth a pick between Rounds 6 and 8. He should be drafted once most of the top-25 wideouts are snagged.

Re: CBS Sportsline Advice

I said the above opinion after only reading the first line, upon further review the good news seems confused and contradictive.

Re: CBS Sportsline Advice

It looked like the Patriots needed Branch more than Branch needed the Patriots when they ran up 72 points in the last two games :0

For the sake of accuracy, it was 71. ;) :D

Makes no sense at all.

That would not only hurt his value on the open market, it would kill it.

Pulling a TO didn't work for TO who has twice in 3 years signed deals that were below market vlaue for his talemt. Why would it work for Branch?

Fantasy draft position?

Most sane people, players, fans, and team officials alike look at how Owens has done bussiness the last few years and cringe. Why on earth would a player intentionally try to emulate his tactics?

This link to an unattributed fantasy post is complete pap. One can question Deion's judgment (and intelligence), but TO he is not. Spare us the time wasted tracking this obvious misinformation.

The item appears to have been pulled from CBS Sportsline's fantasy page.
