Blount: Seahawks get a lot more credit than they deserve

While the Seahawks are a very good team, I agree with Blount here.

These guys beat a bunch of third string QBs all year long and had to have a miracle helmet bounce on an onside kick to even get to this game. People keep saying we haven't faced a defense like theirs all season long, well they haven't faced an offense like ours.

They also beat aaron rodgers, twice. Of course the second time it was a bit of a fluke. Also, GB is a fine offense.

Maybe we should start talking trash too, lately the other way has not done squat .

Exactly. For one, this isn't that bad of trash talk. For another, we've seen first hand that "we do our talking on the field" hasn't always turned into a win against a team that trash talked (Jets, Ravens). In the end, it's all going to come down to execution on the field where the ancillary crap gets thrown by the wayside the moment the pads crack.

Except both of those games were at home. In Lambeau, it's most likely a different story.

Not taking away anything from the Hawks, but their two most impressive wins were GB and Denver, both at home, and they were way back in Week 1 & 3.

They played the lowly Panthers in the Divisional and had no business wining against GB in the NFCCG, but had a few plays go their way and squeaked it out.

They're a good team, but Blount is right, not immortal, in the least.

one of the mods really needs to change the thread title. I read the whole actual quote and no where does blount say "the seahawks get alot of credit" all he says is that they are not immortal. which I see no problem in. would you rather blount be cringing in fear about facing the seahawks like many fans here are?

He's right.

I don't understand why so many people are so terrified of the Seattle Seahawks. Just look at their schedule. They haven't played a real football team since mid-October (Dallas), at which point they got beat down and muscled in their own stadium. Their vaunted defense this season has been built on beating awful quarterbacks with an average QBR (whatever this is...) in the low 50's.

They're overrated, and the only reason they beat Green Bay is because Green Bay is overrated outside Lambeau, and have the most overrated QB (Rodgers) in the league who, while pretty to watch, sucks in big situations, and couldn't do much of anything outside the points gifted to him by the Hawks in the 1st quarter of play.

Pats by double digits.

I think the Seahawks have a very good defense, but not dominant. They are aggressive and create turnovers, but by no means are they shutting down good offenses. Their front 7 is nowhere near as good as the Ravens/Bills/Jets, their secondary is very good but last week a hobbled Rodgers marched up and down the field and if it wasn't for dumb luck and M. Lynch they lose. Their secondary plays physical on the outside, great against the deep ball, but struggle in the middle of the field, which is our strength. Kam and Earl are great, but they are extremely aggressive and you put a patient Brady in there who lets a play develop and he'll batter them.

No team is unbeatable. The Seahawks lost four games this year, as did your beloved Pats. But ripping on them because of who they played is silly. First, all they can do is play the teams on their schedule and win. Second, the 3rd stringers they beat included Aaron Rodgers (twice), Peyton Manning, and Colin Kaepernick (twice...same guy that beat the Pats at home a couple of years ago) to name a few. Look at their record against top-tier QB's over the last 3-4 seasons. If you're too lazy to look....they almost always win. The Sea/NE game IS ancient history but symbolic of what they do a lot: win, even if it involves coming back against the high-flying former Superbowl champs.

PS. If you can find it, listen to the Pats play-play of the last game against Seattle. Zolak in particular spent most of the game talking about how Russell Wilson was the worst QB in the NFL and the team was getting a clinic by the Patriots... As Marshawn Lynch would say... Yeah.

You are right - every opponent should be taken very seriously regardless of games played a few weeks (or years) ago. For example one could argue that the Ravens "backed into" the playoffs and they fought tooth & nail.

BTW Colin Kaepernick is NOT the same guy that beat the Pats at home a couple of years ago. He has regressed considerably.
