I gotta say I've had a hard time getting excited for the game the last few days, but this morning has got me wishing it was kickoff already.
And he's used to the turd as oposed to the ice rink they seemed to be playing on last week.
Not if he gets Cromartie...
this
not sure if cro is actually going to cover him or not ... if he does he is usually very sound on deep balls ... although he gave vincent jackson a bigger cushion on sunday that we were used to seeing last season ... i wouldn't expect thompkins to get the same respect on short balls that jackson received ... i'll go with a modest 5 catches for 45 yards.
This is not altogether unrealistic as I expect Ryan to double up on Edelman.
Who ever thought we'd be discussing teams double covering Edelman?
Our internal fan clocks are all messed up. It's a little disorienting going right to a Thursday night on week 2 — and then knowing there's no Pats game Sunday. But hey, it's the Jets, so, gotta enjoy it. (Also, not that fans and players remotely prepare for games the same way, but I think the rhythm this week also plays into the way BB went all walk throughs this week. All about peaking at the right time)
Maybe I am delusional from not getting much sleep, or maybe I have ALREADY had TOO many cups of some crazy Honduran coffee that my wife found somewhere...but I just had this incredible PREMONITION that Kenbrell Thompkins is going to have a HUGE game tomorrow night!!!! The guy was actually really close on a lot of plays last weekend and showed a ton of promising things for the future, and now coming home to a field he is used to playing on....LOOK OUT!! Thompkins is going to have a BIG night!!! I'm calling it right now!!!! GO PATS!!!!
My prediction is that the Patriots shock the world by coming out in a 4 WR offense with 3 rookies and Edelman.
I saw an article on this site that Cromartie might match up with Edelman, but I don't understand why that makes sense for the Jets. Cromartie has given the X receiver fits, whether it's Moss, Branch, or Lloyd. He excels against athletic receivers and struggles against shifty slot guys. Welker torched Cromartie until Ryan decided to put Revis on Welker and Cromartie on Moss/Lloyd. When that happened the Jets shut down our receivers (although the tight end situation was quite a different matchup problem.)
Anyway, I think Cromartie matches up with Thompkins, as they know that, despite Sunday's struggles, KT is Brady's top target at this point. 14 targets tells us a lot, and now two other main guys are out.
It is possible that Cromartie rotates between Thompkins, Boyce, and Dobson, depending on who is out there and possibly as a "momentum killer" against whoever seems to catch a few passes during a drive.
My prediction is that the Patriots shock the world by coming out in a 4 WR offense with 3 rookies and Edelman. I think the reason is strategic- basically, this might be a game where the best matchup is our 3rd/4th receiver against someone low on the NYJ depth chart. If the Pats try to setup the pass by establishing the run, they could be in trouble. The Jets are pretty stout against the run, and they know if they can break the Pats will to run the ball, they really can win this game.

i wouldn't go so far as calling cro's performance awful ... some of vincent jackson's catches cro wasn't on him ... but cro certainly wasn't near the level he was at last season or needs to be
