Has Matt Cassel actually SIGNED his franchise agreement to date?
And while I'm at it, please answer the following one too. Is it true, as I think it is, that until Cassel ACTUALLY SIGNS the agreement that the $14+MM in cap expense DOESN'T actually get assigned to the Pats. Its just sort of out there in limbo.
It has always been my sneaking suspicion that Cassel won't actually sign the deal until some trade has been worked out or the league calls him on it. That way the Pats will have some cap room to make some moves (hopefully for a CB or S) in early FA. There seems to be a number of "former" high priced guys that will be out there this March. I'd like to see the Pats get one or two.
BTW- Now that I'm in the questioning mode. How much cap room do the Pats currently have (A) if Cassel counts, or (B) if he doesn't.
Well can you help me.
