Ryan Wendell To IR to Make Room For Stork

Y'know....Seal only played a dozen or so snaps each vs MIA and the NYJ.

Absolutely a situation worth watching.

He does appear to have regressed this season AND been passed over, I believe Malcom Brown has won the starting job the past few weeks and Branch + Hicks have been playing over Siligia as mentioned.

Funny how he was once thought to be first in line to replace Wilfork and Branch was a fat slob on the way out, Branch has played very well though, like we all expected Siligia to play, and Hicks looks MUCH better in our scheme than he did the past two seasons in NO.

Funny how good this run D has become, our DL is truly among the best we just don't have "names" on it making $12-20m/yr like others.

It's not the direction they want to go in, but they do need to be at least solid against the run. Question is, If Branch Hicks and Brown perform, isn't that enough? A motivated Branch and Hicks get the nod on size and athletic ability IMO. Next player up is a passing dow DT, it seems to me.

Lets not forget that size isn't everything when it comes to the run game, Easley has also blown up and stuffed many running plays by either meeting the running back in the backfield or cutting off his lane with his speed and quickness forcing the RB to take the time to make a decision. Most backs aren't quick enough on their feet to redirect if their initial lane explodes.

We definitely need the beef, but Brown/Hicks/Branch should be enough "big boys".

And it isn't like Easley is bad against the run, he has multiple times this year blown up a running play or came close to blowing it up.

I think we all appreciated Siliga's dedication, but, as I've said, I do think many overestimated his ceiling. He was never close to Wilfork, not that current players are, but bigger is better, all thing being equal in run stopping.

I've criticized Branch. This is not the Branch i criticized, though. If he and Hicks are both motivated more than before, we get champagne run stoppers for 12 pack money.

Don't forget, Chris Jones looked like a pass rushing world beater in that awful, injury riddled season too. He ain't Easley, but maybe a nice complement.

Yeah, but they've got a real rotation now, and I bet Easley and the big two tend to alternate depending on down/situation. I don't want Easley in on obvious running downs, especially with his injury history.

Agree they don't need more beef, because their new D is predicated on getting to the passer from everywhere on most downs.

I like them both a ton, too.

I don't see Jonesie taking snaps from anyone on the line and I don't see Fletch taking snaps aware of Freeney or Bostic.

Only way they both stick is a combo of IRing Grissom and/or Flowers and/or cut one of the 392 safeties on the roster. Wilson as Fletch is very good STer as is Jonesie.

Yea...Jones is Easley insurance incase those knees don't hold up...but that is all. Fletch might be up upgrade over Freeney....maybe....but Bostic IMO is the better player. So Fletch is insurance as well.

Given that Stork has played G and Andrews hasn't, wouldn't it be the other way around?

It may be. I was just thinking that since Stork is more stout and Andrews is slightly more athletic, that Andrews would kick out to G. There's also Stork's history with concussions, and players are twice as likely to get a concussion at G than at C, according to some research, and that's not surprising considering how often they pull for the log or kick-out block.

Stork had some experience in college at both LG and RG. Andrews played center exclusively in college.

Seal was very good in 2013 and last year but I think talent and the need to penetrate has pushed him to the back of the line.

Not feel good about this.

When Chris Jones and Dane F. are ready, that'll force at a minimum two more moves.

I either see Siliga getting waived or Chris Jones getting waived. I'm not sure what we do with Fletcher. Waive a Safety maybe?

Easley and Jones are the only true 3 techs and Grissom on 3rd downs I guess. Siliga, Browm, Branch and Hicks all overlap with Siliga the odd man out

Which reminds me. Apropos of nothing, why do all the idiots in the media continue to pronounce his name 'sa-linga'?

If in doubt, the Patriots will simply not activate Fletcher and Jones but waive them or let them revert to IR.

McDonald is a specimen. Strong. Fast. Can jump. Quick.

I think they like his upside a lot.

(watch him get cut next week)

I don't disagree (I don't know pretty much anything about Dewey) but I'd guess the "upside guys" are the first to go when you can't even fill up a starting o-line with your existing 53.

Ugh...say it ain't so. I can't let go of him being our best DT even though it does seem like he's been surpassed at the very least by Easley.

I still think we underrate Chris Jones. Is he a pass rushing world beater? No. Is he probably even good enough to make this 53? No. But he could be a sub DT on plenty of teams.

As weird as it may seem, that's the actual pronunciation. I love pouncing on mediots mispronouncing names, but they're right this time.

I think Andrews would be fine in pass coverage as a guard.
