I did not read Tomlin's comments as "we had communications issues--we always have them at Foxboro--AND that's the reason we lost"...Tomlin is a lot of things, but I'm positive if asked directly he'd say the reason Pittsburgh lost was that they got outplayed and outcoached ("below the line" performance in Tomlin-speak).
Eh, I dunno. His post-game presser was fairly pathetic.

What I don't understand of all of this is if the Steelers were getting the Pats coach broadcast on their headsets, wouldn't that be a advantage?
They were getting Pats radio broadcast (Zolak) in the coach to coach headsets.

No, they were hearing the patriots broadcast on their coaches headsets, they weren't hearing the patriots coaches.

The NFL is using crap equipment. Indycar racing had this problem and I remember at one race, a fan started talking to Danica Patrick on her headset during a race when she was doing 220 MPH. She begged them to stop as she could have died. I doubt it is any fan doing it as they had bleedover from the radio broadcast. If it was a fan they would have been rickrolled. To actually rickroll them on their radio equipment would be remarkably easy and my guess is with the electronics, militarily, tech, education etc... in New England, there are 100k people in the area who could do this pretty easily.

The NFL needs to pay a few bucks for military grade equipment and encrypted radio communications which is resistant to jamming and interference. They are a multi-billion dollar organisation.

It was the Patriots radio broadcast, not the Pats coaches

I could be mistaken, but I believe they were getting the Patriots Radio Broadcast of the game and not the Patriots Coach radio signals.

And we all wondered how Roger and his office would get back at Brady for beating him in court.....why create another controversy which makes the Pats look bad! If this is truly a league issue than the should have come out a completely squashed this right away, but yet their letting it linger out there to create more doubt. I know they made a statement but I think they need to make a more forceful one!
Why take the blame for your own mess when you can let the Patriots be your fall guy.

These won't get interference

Its possible its the location of the stadium and what not. Tomlin didnt say as you suggested that they lost the game ebcause of that but he clearly was more bothered by it than an experienced coach should be -maybe after all the SI and ESPN reports last week. Tom curran says he was talking angrily after the game to the Steeler GM and owners.
He was clearly genuinely frustrated by it. I'm sure it's no fun to go against BB with their diversified offensive alignments with a young defense to begin with...I'm sure it's even less fun if the headsets are in and out. Todd Haley (a candidate for a pre-50 heart attack, if ever there was one) was supposedly going absolutely bat$hit on the sidelines...so agreed the Steelers coaches could do a better job of taking things in stride. I was just pointing at that at no point during the interview did Tomlin or anyone else suggest this cost them the game (which seems to be the running assumption here)...and in fact that such a comment would be wholly out of character, as Tomlin is typically a straight shooter about his team's performance (and the coaching for that matter) post-game.

The Steelers and their fans are just a bunch of whining ****ies. Headset problems on BOTH sides, NFL is in CONTROL of ALL headsets and communications, and yet they are gonna say they lost because of this. **** them, I hope they lose EVERY game. I will be rooting against them all season long, those spineless ****ies.

That's uncalled for. Lillloyd has been very courteous throughout this last week. He's not whining, and he's just adding some perspective to Tomlin's comments.

Do we have any IRS agents that are Patriots fans? If so, can you scare Goodell and league office with an audit to keep them from trying to use us as a scapegoat again?

That's fine and all, but his press conference was ridiculous. He all but accused the Patriots of cheating, when the same thing's happened in Pittsburgh.

He should be ashamed of himself and his conduct. It sure as hell wasn't headset issues that called that idiotic trick play with Brown trying to throw.

I'm just really disappointed in what your teams website is trying to accuse though. I had a lot of respect for Pittsburgh and how they ran. Thought they were better than the likes of Indy and Baltimore.
I'm frankly surprised it's on the website. It's a large logic leap, taking an incident that could much more easily be explained by coincidence (i.e. headsets malfunctioning until NFL officials arrived, then malfunctioning again after they left), and then publicly presuming that there was some sort of intent behind it. It will be interesting to see if that story stays up as written on the site.

I'm not a conspiracy guy, so I'm guessing the fact that many teams (including the Patriots themselves apparently, based on BB's comments in the presser!) have experienced headset issues in Foxboro and have publicly complained is probably due to more technical issues occurring generally that particular stadium--impacting both teams--for whatever reason.

The rain effected some wiring.
yes, but an encrypted headset would not broadcast unauthorized broadcasts. It wouldn't resolve a problem with the original signal being interrupted but it wouldn't pick up outside transmissions like the radio station. The NFL must be using some old system. What they need is military grade equipment. Military grade is designed for all conditions.

And what's his take?
