I Miss Our Dynasty Swag

No, I definitely do not care to "revise" my statement. The nonsense you praise is incidental to talented teams like Seattle who win IN SPITE of it, not because of it. Did you read fnordcircle's quote from BB regarding this issue of "swagger"? You need consult no higher authority. If acting disrespectfully and in unsportsmanlike fashion won championships, the Jets would be perennial title holders. Talent, focus, hard work and execution wins in pro sports, not "attitude" or loudmouth schoolyard b.s., which burns energy and distracts from the tasks at hand.

And yet every team that has attitude and a very visible chip on their shoulder KICKS OUR ASS every year (Giants, Ravens, 49'ers, Seahawks).

If you truly believe that's why those teams won, and that the Patriots are not sufficiently mentally tough or motivated, you are terribly naive.

Yeah, I do, because those teams play to WIN. They let it all hang out. They let their opponents know on the field real quick they're there to kick their asses and bury them and make them feel it with a certain degree of pure hate.

Our BEST wins recently were played the same way.

If you take over the Seahawks tomorrow and castrate their attitude for your BS pink hat "Patriot Way" formula they won't play like the same football team. I guarantee it.

But it's not MY formula, it's BB's. Seems that you're fed up with how he runs the team. There's a loudmouth swaggering bunch about four hours south of Foxboro you might want to check out. I hear they have plenty of green jerseys available for their fans and would welcome you with open arms. ;)

This is just talk. It doesn't reflect reality.

There's a team called the Seattle Seahawks. They're the Superbowl champions. They've been been one of the most feared teams in football for a few seasons now, talk more trash than anyone, get in people's faces, and they won a ring last year.

They played Denver last year in the preseason the same way they thumped them in the Superbowl.

Care to revise your statement?

You can't be serious. You cannot think teams FEAR other teams. You further can't think they do it because of swagger.
The Jets have swagger, and they are a laughing stock.

This is the poster thread for spoiled, whiny fans. It should get a one way ticket to the P. S> forum but we are still in an off season mode.

Gee yes, I wish that the team had won the other 2 SB's. The losses were against my most hated team since forever. They were fluke losses and "swagger" had nothing to do with it.

We have been blessed by having a team that has had the best record in all of football over the past 20 years. Anyone who has been a fan since 15- 20 years before 2001 has to appreciate what this team has given to us over the past 14 years. We may get another or we may not but this team is built to be in contention and that is all fans can ask for.

The Jets don't have swagger. The Jets don't have attitude. The Jets just have a bunch of loud mouths on their team. There's a HUGE difference between the Patriot teams (that was very similar in attitude and demeanor to recent CHAMPIONS) of our Dynasty era and the freaking Jets.

I guess you're mistaking our old Dynasty attitude to being tabloid trash talkers.

Were you even AROUND when we were winning Superbowls or did you show up in 2008?

Anyone remember this guy or would everyone just consider him a no good punk in today's Patriots pink hat atmosphere and want to ship him off to Seattle where he would apparently belong?

And yes, teams DO fear other teams. I guess you missed the Superbowl last year when the Broncos were clearly scared to death and didn't want to catch anything because they were getting laid out then blatantly disrespected on national television.

Seattle's defense gets right in other teams heads and sets up camp there.
Keep pretending though.

Football is football. It isn't cricket. Intimidation is as important as it is in the NFL as it is in MMA, boxing or any physical sport. Are you going to say anything that's actually true?

I don't think DEN feared SEA. DEN was pressured into mistakes and eventually gave up. It was a glorious night but swagger didn't do much to sway the outcome, I think.

Nope. Those receivers were scared to death of getting laid out. The so called #1 offense vanished because they were scared. You could see the stench of fear all over them, and in Peyton Manning.

More over, every time they got planted, by Kam Chancellor or anyone else, the Seattle players were in their faces letting them know they were in the wrong game, against the wrong damn team. Denver's soul was ripped out of it's chest before the 3rd quarter hardly began, because everything about the way Seattle played and carried themselves let them know they weren't coming back into the game.

If Seattle hit them then helped them back to their feet like fine young gentlemen, Denver might have hung around a little longer.

I think swagger is about 1,245 on the list of things you need for a championship team. If swagger meant anything, the Jets would have three rings right now.

If you mean the Pats losing their swagger is code for not having a healthy Gronk in the playoffs, I am totally on board. With a healthy Gronk, the Pats most likely have one if not two or even three Super Bowl wins over the last three years (although I find it hard to believe the Pats would have beaten the Seahawks Gronk or no Gronk).

Oh please.

The Patriot teams that won SBs acted the same was as they have since.
You are revising history.

Thank you for typing one post to sum up your knowledge so that I can avoid having to read any more.
You must be 12 years old.

Regardless, the Patriots last year had one of the most tough minded teams I can remember watching. They took hit after hit and kept coming back. I was proud to call them my favorite team. They just didn't have the talent to move any farther in the playoffs, in my opinion. They have seemingly increased their talent level this year and should be better. Injuries obviously can affect that as they did last year. Maybe they'll show more attitude on the field this year because of it but if they're more successful it's probably because they executed better than their opponent.

If I thought that a little more trash talk would have made David Tyree drop that #$%#@$ pass or made Mario Manningham step out of bounds before he caught that #%#@$% ball, I'd be on this bandwagon for sure. That's just how close the Pats have come to five rings but I really don't think Swagger or dancing on logos had anything to do with how things turned out.

The Seahawks physically intimidated the Broncos in the Super Bowl, but that had nothing to do with swagger.

And yet every team that has attitude and a very visible chip on their shoulder KICKS OUR ASS every year (Giants, Ravens, 49'ers, Seahawks).

Detroit Lions, New York Jets, Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles...

I don't think dancing on logos contributed to winning the games either, considering they danced on San Diego's logo after they won. The difference was in the attitude of the team. They didn't care WTF anyone thought of them. They openly hated on other teams on the field. They blatantly disrespected football teams who ran their mouths or thought they were someone special.

They weren't afraid.

I swear, when we get to the play offs lately, despite having bad injuries, the Patriots don't play the same brand of football. They almost play like a team that's afraid of the legacy hit in case of a loss, who doesn't want to let it all hang out in case they lose and have to listen to someone on ESPN make them eat crow for it. The old Patriot team didn't play like that.

The Patriot offense hasn't carried itself like this, admittedly, but the defense has.

More over, everyone here claiming they `hate swag` so much are being dishonest. When Talib was running around the field disrespecting people last year, you were all LOVING IT, so get off your high horses with your fake "Patriot Fan Way."

Go watch Cricket if that's what you're looking for.

The Patriots with ATTITUDE play the best Patriot football, not the Patriots that play like they're apologizing for themselves.

Hopefully Revis and Browner rub some off on our defense and let other teams know.
