Pats, Broncos could be trying to shake Revis free from Tampa | ProFootballTalk

Pats and Broncos speculated to have interest in trading for Revis.

I know, these are the threads everyone loves reading, don't shoot the messenger!

Ben Volin ‏@BenVolin 39m
Ive heard the Revis-to-NE rumors that @ProFootballTalk wrote as well, but I cant imagine they want to take on his $16m contract. No cap room

Mike Loyko ‏@NEPD_Loyko 55m
Who knows if the Revis report is true, but with Jason Licht as the new GM In Tampa.. the negotiations would be friendly.

If Revis took a ~30% pay cut, maybe not even, I'd actually be on board.

Lets start the Amendola + 4th for Revis talk. ;)

That could be the most ridiculous article I've read since...probably since a different Florio article.

If only the were in need for a QB as well lol

16 Mill? Let offer him 20 mill..why not. We have so much cap room

This is worse then the jimmy graham as a pat talk..and that **** is bad

If it was ever to happen we would not retain Talib.

Once again I read something by Volin and shake my head that anyone would pay this guy to talk football. Put the speculation aside - he's just (pedestrian) wrong on the cap space.

IF (MASSIVE, HUGE IF) the Pats swung a deal for Revis, they could pay him easily. Miguel shows how they can get into the 20's without breaking a sweat, even up to 30, and if the cap is going to $140 next year and $150'ish (no one would know this better than Kraft, by the way) the year after, Revis's salary is easily covered.

In a flat cap, it would make no sense - after what just happened with the boost, who knows?

It is gonna be a long off season, and now the the draft is moved to May it will be even longer... but Florio needs the love and hits on his site.

I don't know the ins and outs of the Broncos cap situation and Im too lazy to google it but the article postulates that they could dump a a washed up champ and pick up Revis paying him 6m more than the aforementioned. Since its apparently not likely he comes here, If Im denver I give pick #31 and pony up the cash. Would improve their defense tremendously. Big difference between asking Pey Pey to put up 35+ in big games vs 21-24.

Cut Bailey, Tamme, Dreessen and save $15.5 million.

You guys realize he is making 0 $ guarenteed? That's why he got 16 million per.

I believe if he was offered two years 20 million fully guarenteed, he would bolt out of Tampa to us. Give him two seasons to prove again he is the best CB in the league and then bolt for more crazy money. Win win? :D

Yeah, but have you seen the list of their starters they need to resign?

They could do it - so could the Pats. Remember, it'd be a trade, not an FA, so the money is the least of the issues!

They honestly don't need to resign Moreno or Decker (their two biggest FA's). As sad is it is to admit, they're in better shape and it makes more sense for them to get Revis than us.

Well, I think the latter part is questionable, but the fact that his contract is fully restructurable is important.
