Patriots Sign Tim Tebow

His point doesn't seem to be whether you "hate" him or not.

His point seems to be that the forum has not been overrun by Tebow fan boys wanting him to be installed as a starter, as some have predicted.

That point seems to be right so far... I haven't seen a single one. I don't expect to see or hear many, on this forum or in Gillette stadium.

It's June. It hasn't even been 24 hours since this report went public. They'll be here. I've seen them on Jets and Broncos forums in the past. Though it won't be the apocalypse that some are predicting, there will still be a good amount of Tebow fans that show up here come the start of the season. These people typically carry themselves as Gator fans, but really didn't hop aboard the bandwagon until 2006-2007. Not sure how much exposure you got to it in Palm Beach, but in Gainesville and Jacksonville (Gainesville North), you saw it and still see it a lot.

Reporter "How much of a consideration was the attention that I'm sure you knew that comes with singing Tim Tebow before making that decision"

BB "um none"

Priceless!

Bill Belichick Press Conference Transcript - 6/11/2013

BB presser , a classic. Here is one

Q: Will you have an objection to him kneeling down after a big play and ‘Tebowing’ if you will?

BB: I think we’ve already talked enough about him. We’ll see how he does and just go from there.

Q: Can you answer that question? Will you care if he does it?

BB: I think I’ve covered it.
Seriously? Did someone ask that twice ??

Seriously? Did someone ask that twice ??

I think they are stupid and irrelevant questions. Consider the source I guess. The media are a bunch of mindless lemmings. Did one of them actually think that this wouldnt go exactly like this. Maybe the media will actually shock us for once and do something slightly clever.

Really? There were many more important things to talk about than Tebow. But they just cant get enough of this JAG.

Reporter "Coach how do you deal with a player that comes in with som much fanfare and celebrity etc..?"

BB "We've been on front of bigger crowds before"

lol, loved watching the media circus explode in NY and I'll love watching it shrink in NE even more...:)

Re: Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

Troy Brown as a DB. Julian Edelman as a WR, then a DB. Bill isn't afraid to think outside the box, and I think we can all say Tebow will not be causing any kind of QB controversy here.

So there's really only three options:
1. He works with one of the best who ever played the game, and becomes a serviceable QB who can be traded for an asset.
2. He develops into something useful at another position.
3. He shows he has no value as an NFL player, and is let go with no guaranteed money.

To me there is no risk here. If he isn't worth the circus, they'll cut him loose. Rest assured if he can't make it here as an NFL player, he's probably done. I'm not a Tebow guy, but I'll take this risk. If he actually proves useful, watching JETS fans lose their minds will be fun.

How stupid are the anti-Tebow people willing to make themselves look?

Salk, on WEEI:

"I'd rather have JaMarcus Russell"

The Pats would be completely screwed if either of them ended up starting for any considerable period of time--does anyone really see the Pats instituting a read-option just for their third stringer on the off chance that he ends up starting?

That said, Tebow works hard, is a good locker room presence, and has the versatility to contribute in other ways. That alone puts him miles ahead of Russell.

That was a good one too, but this was my personal FAV:

Q: From a team standpoint, you try to eliminate distractions. Are you worried this will cause a distraction? Just look at the number of people who are here.

BB: Hopefully there will be more than that at the games on Sundays.

Burst out laughing while reading. .... Sometimes i miss not watching the video/audio. Classic BB. :singing:

I had to look up who he is. Salk, that is. Moron.

...whatever that is, that’s what it is. Four weeks, it’s four weeks. A week of training camp is a week of training camp. A regular season game is a regular season game. It all adds up every day. You do the math, I don’t know.

:D

All of our players have been here regularly throughout the offseason Except one..... that is pretty telling. Mr. Spikes, a personal favorite of mine, better be in as good a shape as he thinks he is......

Anything we do is what we feel is in the best interests of the team...

we try to do what’s best for the team....

We’re going to try to get better as a football team, individually and collectively, and that’s what we’re going to do....

We’ll try to do what we think is best for our football team...

I think I’ve covered it...

That’s just the way it is.

laughin' so hard here... tears!

That press conference had me cracking up the entire time.

Well, if you get to the QB3 for any length of time, you're likely screwed no matter what team you are. That's part of why I don't see the problem here. Even if Tebow's good for nothing but a bit of ST work and scout team QBing, that's still more than the usual QB3 brings to a team. Would/will it be enough for him to earn a spot? That would/will likely be a function of quality players at the other positions.

Q: What was the general reaction from Tebow’s camp after getting the call from you guys?

BB: I don’t know, you’d have to talk to them about that.

Q: You didn’t get a feel for it at all?

BB: You’d have to talk to them. I don’t want to represent what somebody else said or thought.
............

I waited a while before I added my 2 cents. Unlike the rest of the football universe it seems to me that 95% of the commentary is pretty level headed. Here's my take.

1. I didn't like signing him. Nothing against Tebow or his fans, I just didn't see the need. To me this has been a 2 QB system during the season, with maybe the possibility of a PS QB. The only time to have 4 arms is for the first month of training camp.

2. OK, but since they DID end up signing him, what did we get? We got a 3rd string QB who has a set of different skills from the the other 2. THAT's it. There is nothing more to see here.

3. So barring injury, the Pats are trading the opportunity for Tebow to FINALLY develop into the best QB he can possibly be (whatever that is), in return the Pats will have a decent option/running QB to work against in practice, plus someone who will be happy to do whatever is necessary to make the team better and be a good teammate

4. If that is enough to make the final 53 man roster in NE, then he'll be the 46th man dressed on game day.....and if he's fortunate, the media will (by the 2nd week of TC) will treat him exactly like he is, the 3rd string QB

5. That's my take and from THIS moment, just about every other story concerning the Patriots just became infinitely more interesting than anything to do with Tim Tebow

"Ben?"

"Yes, Mr. Maguire?"

"Ben, you're a smart boy and we're all proud of you for doing so well at college"

"Thank you, Mr. Maguire"

"I want to say ONE word to you, just one word"

"Yes, sir?"

"Are you listening?"

"Yes, I am"

"MERCHANDISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
