The 2011 season: The Jets Suck (merged a lot)

If the Giants win Saturday, I might be moved to prepare green bean casserole as part of Christmas dinner in a loving salute to New Jersey's "guaranteed" Super Bowl season. :singing::singing::singing::singing:

While I will be celebrating with you, I don't think we should celebrate too much with a NYGiant victory.

As long as the Jets beat Miami in the season finale, they will definitely earn the 6th seed still. They hold all of the tiebreakers, and I just honestly don't see them losing to BOTH the Giants and the Dolphins; as nice as it would be.

A win at HOU during WC weekend, and they come to Foxborough. I guess it's just destiny, but I would have rather avoided them a 3rd time to be completely honest.

Then again, if it sets up a PIT/BAL game where one ousts the other, I guess it's not too much different than facing the Texans as we likely would have with the #2 seed. I do however, think the Jets will gain a little momentum with a renewed sense of a second life in the playoffs, and that is what scares me.

but if I were Toes McGobbler and the G Men beat my azz this Saturday, I think I might be on the lookout for the press corps camped out on my back deck hiding under the 50 or so gas grills, waiting to pounce on news of my imminent demise.

Yeah, unfortunately that will not last, as they will likely beat the Dolphins the following week and once again, back in to the #6 seed.

Somehow they always luck out, and I did not think they had much of a chance if they lost to BOTH Philly and the NYGiants. I was very wrong, as they hold all the tiebreakers, and Cincy would need to defeat Baltimore in the last week.

EDIT: I believe they hold most of the tie-breakers, but a poster just pointed out that may not be true regarding the OAK Raiders.

Are you sure? Even against the Raiders?

why will they likely beat the Dolphins down in Miami? They were just eviscerated in Philly after Big Mouth Blabbagutz bellowed how great they were...the Dolphins have been playing great ball at home the last month...wasn't it YOU in another thread that was warning everybody HERE not to overlook these upstart Dolphins in a HOME game...yet now we're supposed to believe a team we destroyed and humiliated is going to waltz into Miami and walk all over them and then win the wildcard game ..and then come into Foxboro and beat the Pats with their "amoeba!!!" defense, like they didn't earlier in the season and like they were HUMILIATED at home just a few weeks ago???

You should see a therapist...you're definitely having green post traumatic shock syndrome flashbacks...

Yes, I'm assuming that they do not lose both games.

Only time will tell.

All I know is that they can still lose this week to the NYGiants, and then win the next week vs. Miami and still get in at 9-7.

I didn't think they needed any help from anyone else, but I could be wrong. I did change my original post with an edit, stating that you pointed out that OAK may hold the TB over the NYJ. I am not sure if that's true or not, but I didn't want to steer anyone in the wrong direction. Regardless, I will not rest until they are done/out, and we'll have to see if that happens with 2 losses.

From what all the talking heads are saying, a loss to the NYG would put them behind some other teams, due to their 8-7 record; but then if they'd win the next week they'd jump in front of those teams again.

The potential loss that we're discussing is not an AFC loss, so I would imagine things would change if they beat the NYG, and then lost to the Dolphins.

Anything's possible of course, but the pt is that I am not getting my hopes up if/when they lose to the NYG this week (as I expect them to).

You're right in thinking that they're on the ropes, but I won't take rest until they're finally dead. I just can't see them losing out on the last spot, but we can all hope.

As far as the MIA game vs NE this week, yes--that was me stating that I believe the Pats will win by double digits again, but that the Dolphins have the potential to play tough defense on us. Not only that, they could put up some pts in the early 20's or so. Therefore it could be closer that some think.

As far as what they'd do to the NYJ, that's up for debate, and we'll have to wait and see.

I am likely having some type of shock syndrome, brought on by their liklihood to crawl in every yr and steal away the 6 seed.

It seems poetic justice that in their own city, the Giants would put a beat down on them and reinforce further to Jets fans that they are the number 2 NFL franchise in NY. It would be greater poetic justice if the Dolphins ended their season in Miami the following week.

That is very understandable....I blame the Patriots and Brady for that...the Jets were imposters last year just like they were the year before...San Diego blew THREE easy chip shot FG's(two of them anyway) and succumbed to being a heavy heavy favorite over the Jets...that was 90% luck at work and the Jets ended up getting strangled out by Indy. Last season, Brady played a lousy, nervous, fidgety game yet the Pats were well on their way to exerting control in that game when a series of bush league plays on both sides of the ball allowed the Jets to steal a game they should have trailed in from the outset. I was there up close...that Crumpler drop in the EZ was a pee wee league mistake...the idiotic pass to BJGE by Brady, when the Pats are easily driving to the EZ was mystifying...Brady admitted as much post game...the Jets had only put up 14 points going into the 4th quarter...the key was what Ryan invented for this game out of thin air...his "amoeba" defense, specifically designed for Brady and the Patriots O...here's the post game summation

The first thing we learned is that the Patriots defense wasn’t the issue on Sunday, it was the offense thanks to a solid game plan by New York. Brady had a hard time finding receivers in the middle of the field where he feasted in the last game. The Jets were forcing Brady to look for options on the outside. The Jets made an adjustment going into this match-up, and unfortunately the Patriots could not counter.

Rex used this again in Foxboro this season...Brady and the offense had much less trouble with it and won handily....THEN, in NJ, with all the pressure on,with Big Mouth Wrecks blabbing like a crack fueled jacka$$, Brady DESTROYED his "amoeba" bullcrap in the most humiliating defeat for the Jets this season. There are no more stupid fat guy tricks in Wrecksie's bag of bon bons....the Pats are healthy for the most part, the Jets have a huge hole in their secondary and their pass rush is spearheaded by a spectacular ex-Bills bust of the century. Really, we'd be very fortunate if somehow we got this rag tag bunch of green hobos in here for the first playoff game.

No wonder Jaba the Gut's lap band procedure is a failure...

Rex Ryan and Jets’ offense share ice cream every Thursday - NYPOST.com

Jets coach Rex Ryan revealed yesterday he has been meeting every Thursday for about a month with some of his key offensive players. The group meets informally in his office to eat ice cream, discuss that week’s game plan and tell some stories.

Ryan’s “ice cream cabinet” consists of quarterback Mark Sanchez, tight end Dustin Keller and wide receivers Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress. Offensive consultant Tom Moore has also been stopping by since he has been in New Jersey. Noticeably absent is offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer

I wonder what kind of ice cream Lil' Marky likes? Perhaps.......

I think the Dolphins are a bad match up for the Jets. The Dolphins should have beaten them in the first game and it was only because Matt Moore was still green in that game and Reggie Bush went out in the second half that stopped them from doing it.

The Jets struggle with offenses with speed and I don't think they can contain Reggie Bush. With the Dolphins' defense playing fairly well right now, that might be enough to beat the Jets.
