Eagles release S Jarrad Page.

Why? Is the fact he failed in Philly a reason we should want him after not wanting him before?

Sure, Andy. Because our depth at Safety is exactly where it was last summer.

Nice.

I was unimpressed with him in the few snaps he played.

Per Mike Reiss on Twitter, they thought enough of him to tender him a second rounder...

On Jarrad Page, Pats thought enough of him to tender him at 2nd-round level as restricted FA in old CBA. Unclear how they view him now.

Let's play a game of "name the safeties that have been cut or IRed since the Eagles signed Page".

FFS, we started James Ihedigbo and Sterling Moore last week. I know that you're fundamentally incapable of acknowledging that the Patriots have a weak spot, but it's pretty obvious to everyone else that the safety situation has changed dramatically.

Agreed. The Patriots ought to at least take a look at the guy. It's simplistic but the mantra in the defensive backfield ought to be ABS (Anyone but Sergio).

No reason he shouldn't be looked at to replace Brown.

Brown is nothing but a liability at this point, Page was never that bad

I think the Pats will put in a waiver claim. He knows the Pats' system and can step in right away.

I'm hoping they consider bringing him back. He's got to be better than Sergio Brown.

Plus, the Eagles D has been a mess all season. May not have been a fit for them anymore.

Doesn't every team take their offensive line coach and make him a defensive coordinator??? How's that working out, Andy?

Why? You don't like watching him run full speed with his head down into a receiver just inches short of the red zone before the ball gets there?

The Pats are pretty far down when it comes to waiver claims (always a good thing), so he may not get to the Pats anyway. Detroit has been interested in him in the past ( I think he was one of the players mentioned in the tampering charges against them). But, the Pats should put in a claim for him. Depth at the very least has to be a concern at S and with his having been in the system he could contribute. No, he's not Ronnie Lott but he could help. If they don't put in a claim for him, it speaks volume about what Belichick thinks of some of the young guys in the secondary. Why all the hate directed at Sergio Brown? It's not his fault that he's a good special teamer who really shouldn't out on defense anymore than Matthew Slater. That he has been out there speaks to the depth problem at the position.

It's not hate directed at Brown. I don't think people blame him for sucking, because it's not a surprise. It's disgust/disappointment at some of Belichick's offseason personnel moves, with Brown's crap-ass play being the perfect example, and the embodiment, of why that disgust/disappointment is there.

No I hate him, yes he isn't a worthy starter, but he is hurting the team and for that I dream of the day he is no longer eligible to play for us.

If he was released in part due to being dinged up, he might literally be damaged goods.

I doubt we have enough information to have a strong opinion one way or the other about that aspect.

BradyFTW FTW!!! :rofl::rocker:

It couldn't hurt to have a look at him.

So we make a waiver claim.

Release Brown..........

Failing to see how even a one leggged Jarrad Page isn't better than Sergio Brown.

Game against the Eagles is coming up.

We tendered him as a 2nd rounder this offseason, so its not like we consider him scrap.

As for your logic - if we didn't want castoffs on our roster, what the hell are we doing with Antwaun Molden, Philip Adams, James Ihedigbo, Kyle Arrington, Sterling Moore, Sergio Brown, Josh Barret, etc., etc. All these players have either been released several times, went undrafted, been cut and re-signed by us, up and down off practice squads on our team and others, etc., etc.

You seem to have forgotten that most of the players inhabiting our secondary at the moment are castoffs themselves.

We all know there's AJerk somewhere around the board who's made it AJob to apologize for everything the Patriots do, and defend them to the last key on his keyboard.

My question is, simply, when the Pats re-sign Page, will this member, AJoke to most forum regulars, do a 180 and praise the Pats for making a brilliant move?
