Just call him A-Roid

85 players from Mitchell report represent 189 names out of tens of thousands of players who have played since the 1980s.

The mitchell report was based on the trainer for 2 teams. Do you really think that if you brought in 30 trainers the numbers wouldn't be astronomically higher?

The only reason I mentionned Maddux (you can go back and check) was because ESPN threw his name out there are a person that if he was ever linked to steroids, they'd be shocked. I then said that I wouldn't be surprised and I WAS surprised that "journalists" from ESPN would be so dumb as to use ANY names (as sure things), given the current climate.

But before I die, I predict so many names will come out that my % will not seem so ridiculous.
Fair enough. I agree that you shouldn't be shocked to hear anyone's name in connection to steroids, I just think that suspecting someone because of their longevity is a weak argument. His only crime is playing in the era where so many of his peers were juicing, and that in itself shouldn't be reason to suspect someone.

No, it wouldnt. That would be 25% of the active population using steroids that are able to be tested for. Right now, the tests are about 5 years behind the drugs. What percentage do you think are willing to pony up the cash for the drugs that can't be tested for?

This is a sport where a 10 HR increase can get you an extra $10M a year. Do you really think that a lot of these players aren't willing to make some sacrafices to get that money? Remember, these are some of the most competitive people in the world.
The context of that quote is looking strictly at "caught cheaters", which farn was basing his opinion on. As I said, there is nowhere near as many steroid users as some estimate looking strictly at the "caught cheaters".

Yes there are undetectable steroids. Yes there are a lot more users who haven't been caught. I've agreed with all that. Players obviously want a competitive edge, there is just no reason that 97% take steroids to accomplish that goal.

No kidding, I've said as much. And while it was based on just 2 trainers, those two trainers supplied steroids to players on several other teams besides their own. Players from Oakland, LA, SF, Boston, St Louis, Colorado, Baltimore, etc. The guys who they used to gather information supplied to a whole lot more than just the teams they were a trainer for. They were two of the biggest dealers in baseball.

We understand what you're saying : don't throw people under bus without proof. You understand what we're saying : something stinks here.

I guess the last thing we seem to be disagreeing about is the percentage of players that are juicing. I don't see how that will be resolved other than to accept that I believe the numbers are very high, while you seem to think they might not be as high.

Now... onto looking at more of Real World's pics.

Her name is Jessica Burciaga. I highly reccomend you google her, and if possible, you MUST check out her myspace photo albums. You will not be disappointed. I promise!

Hey, at least he admitted it...unlike Roger Clemens. I have more respect for A-roid now, the Clemens. Even though i hate them both.

Yikes. Must focus on football. Think unsexy thoughts.

To be honest, I think you plucked the two best pics. A-Roid ? What's an A-Roid ?

it hurts when someone you blindly supported admits he used somethimg to get an edge, this is all so similar to the spygate incident, and who knows may spur A-rod to have a monster season in 09, who knows,

i'm just saying, red sox fans, remember how much it hurt when everyone started hating on the pats because of the whole spygate cheating issues, well roidgate is similar to what a-rod is going through luckly for him, out of 104 players his name is the only one published

And the fact that his name was leaked was a lousy thing as this brings all the wrath down on him, which is unfair to be honest.

And Selig suggesting the guy may be suspended is an even bigger joke; he admitted he did steroids and his reward for being honest is possible suspension? What a farce.
