I want more fact before I will say e shoudl be cut.

I won't say he should be cut just yet, either, but I certainly would not be angry if the Pats did; in my book, he already used up his "do-over."

Cut him - we are better off making room for a talented UDRFA

...like Mark Dillard? Because he's the only UDFA defensive back.

If he is cut, that will help Ventrone or Slater (or Spann) more than anyone else.

Re: Andrews accused of pointing gun at finacee's head

Probably, he's becoming more effort than he's worth. Still, it looks like an accusation that won't be substantiated as they didn't find a gun.

According to ESPN, they did find a .45 caliber pistol near a dumpster in the vicinity of the hotel. They didn't say whether or not the gun was Andrews, but the implication is there.

Re: Andrews Faces Gun Assault Charge

Andrews has been made more expendable by their additions via draft and free agency - frankly, he'll be replaced on the roster by someone who should hopefully fare as well on ST, and will have more value on the defensive side of things than he does.

I think that the writing for Andrews was on the wall with the drafting of Slater. Someone who is just as versatile as Andrews.

Don't forget this won't help his drug charge any; that was continued without finding for a year, so when he comes back...

I thought he pleaded to a lesser charge and was given probation????

Maybe - maybe not -- reread what Crowpointer pasted about what happened and how it went down.

She confronts him in his apartment.

He agrees to a search and nothing found.

She leave with her baby late at night - what was she doing out with the child in the first place.

Hey, I am not defending him or calling him an angel or do I mean to cast stones at her or him.

Just feel due process should apply here - no matter who he is.
Tottaly afree..let it play out....instead of rushing to judgement..

FYI - I'll take the 'under' on the 48-hours-to-release-him wager:

Andrews allegedly told police he did not have a gun, but the weapon was later recovered near a Dumpster at his apartment complex, prosecutors and police said.

He was arraigned at Attleboro District Court this afternoon on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm without a Firearm Identification Card.

Andrews was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing Thursday, according to Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter’s office.

Andrews charged with alleged gun assault

The Attleboro Sun Chronicle earlier today reported that Patriots defensive back Willie Andrews, who was arrested in February for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon by Mansfield police after he allegedly pointed a 9-mm handgun at his girlfriend’s head after she accused him of cheating on her. The incident reportedly took place at Andrews’ Mansfield residence.

“He came home and was waving a gun (9 mm Glock) and touched my temple. He continued waving the gun as he started throwing items into my suitcase and onto the floor,” the woman wrote in a statement to police, the report said.

The Patriots, meanwhile, just released the following statement: “The New England Patriots take the conduct of our players very seriously. We are aware of the very disturbing and alarming reports regarding Willie Andrews. We will not offer any additional comment, as is our policy regarding pending legal matters.”

Andrews February arrest in Lowell was continued without a finding.

Re: Andrews accused of pointing gun at finacee's head

I think you said that the day after the super bowl

Without reading the rest of the thread, Pats1 was not the only one who said that. I did and was surprised that they didn't cut him loose then.

I give it 36 hours, and it may have already happened but we won't hear about it for a day or two.

With so much competition in the defensive backfield and quality special teamers he's not going to be missed. Maybe Slater would be a good fit for his special teams slot. I do think they will at least wait to hear his side of the story before letting him go but I guess we'll see...

We don't know the entire story here and it could be a disgruntled girlfriend throwing out false accusations, but the fact of the matter is that this player seems to be more trouble than he is worth. 7th Rd, back up DB's, although be it very talented ST players don't get two chances to get their personal life together. The Pats stood behind him the last time but I have a strong feeling that he will become an ex-Patriot soon.

i dont know...i mean...theres no gun...

Funny how when it was Randy Moss the board wasn't filled with "cut that piece of ****** now" posts (that I remember).
Funny, I don't remember Randy Moss being arrested once last year, never mind twice. And you know what, neither do you. But don't let facts get in your way....

It really is baffling to me how a young man with his entire future on the line screws up so easily and so often. It goes way beyond cultural background and really just comes down to outright stupidity.

No matter how you were brought up or where, the same thing is on the line. Either you cherish it or throw it away. It's a choice, not conditioned reaction.

I just can't imagine having the chance to play a professional sport AND be wealthy beyond anything else I am capable of doing....and say, "awh, screw it, I'm gonna do X anyway and take the chance"

He had some problems a lot earlier on, though:
