Will Belichick go to the owners meetings?

So the measure of a coach is winning seasons according to our friend from Indy. Too bad Tampa Bay didn't feel that way went they kicked him out of town. Interestigly enough, Gruden won the superbowl the next year with Dungy's team. I think the management in New England and Tampa Bay have the same goals in that winning superbowls are what count. That is why an 18-1 season isn't good enough. Of course in Indy where they rarely win superbowls, the 18-1 record would be celebrated as a great nachievement for Dungy.

you all chowderheads are so funny!:) What has Gruden done since the SB win? Nothing except come close to getting fired this last season.

Cmon now, the Colts and Pats have been the 2 best teams in the NFL over the last 5 years and only 1 team can win it. The only great achievement for every in the league is to win it all! Everything else is just second best, even 18-1!!!!:p

Wow, I guess it still hurts pretty bad ay. Goin from perfect to punks in a 3 hr. span.

When you F the family pig, do you wrap your co ck in celophane?

C'mon Pat fan is this the best you can do? ... well I would be ashamed of my team also if I were a Pat fan right now. But fear not, when BB get suspended it will get better.:)

You know who invented the toothbrush ... hillbillies did otherwise it would be a teethbrush.

You're team is a member of the one and done club. Did you come here to have a life?

If you ignore them, they go away eventually...

Oh and by the way Indy was the 2nd youngest team in the NFL last season and returns everyone except 1 opening game starter. How is NE doin on the returning starter front?

LET YOU KNOW AFTER WE DRAFT 5 IN THE 1ST 3 ROUNDS THIS YEAR...

He's not an owner.

so eloquant, I'm sure the parents are so proud of you.

Tom Brady is Better than Peyton Manning

Bill Belichick is better than Tony Dungry

and...The new england patriots are better than the Colts.

nothing else needs to be heard from you, you come on here and talk sht because the patriots went 18-1, guess what? one of them 18's, was your great team. How'd they finish by the way?

oh and another thing, ever since dungry went to the colts he has had the refs on his side, (as someone said already) and that explains why he as so many wins. Can you honestly tell me you can watch a colts game and not question almost every single call by the refs?

Dungy, from a Tampa viewpoint

The concept that Tony Dungy is such a great coach since he has always had winning records is a load of s#it. Trust me, I know; I've lived in the Tampa Bay area for twenty years. That Buc team was a constant under achiever. There were at least two, if not more, other years that those teams should have made it to the Super Bowl. The reason they did not was Dungy's overly predictable and ultra conservative play calling and game planning. Gruden won in the last window of opportunity with one of the greatest defenses in NFL history by opening up the play calling and going out and getting some offense to go with Sapp, Brooks and Lynch. Everybody in the stadium knew first down was a run to the left, second down was a run to the right, and on third and long was a pass to the near sideline close to the first down marker.

Dungy got a lot of credit for the team's success since he was the head coach, but that is not a fair and accurate assessment. Former owner Hugh Culverhouse was a cheapskate who fielded the worst team in NFL history - and at the same time was one of the most profitable owners in the NFL thanks to television reveue sharing. Once he passed away, all those high draft picks resulted in a very good team. That credit should go primarily to under appreciated director of player personnel Jerry Angelo, and also to GM Rich McKay and new owner Malclom Glazer. Dungy gets all the credit in the media but he was one of the least important pieces, after the players and the people mentioned above.

Getting the gig in Indy at that time had to be a dream come true for any coach. Even though many on this board bash him, few would contest that Bill Polian is one of the very best at what he does in the NFL. Sure the team had a losing team after the Jim Mora infamous "playoffs? Playoffs!?" meltdown, but they were 10-6 and 13-3 the two years before that. This was a very good team with Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison and Edgerrin James. Dungy was brought in with implicit instructions to not screw up the offense like he did in his last job, and maybe help the defense get better.

Dungy's all time winning record should be Exhibit A under "Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics"

Crap, I think Jerry Glanville could have won a Super Bowl with that set up Dungy walked in to with the Colts.

Maybe more than once.

As rock and roll detective Ford Fairlane would say: Case Cuh-losed. Oh!

Say what you will about Dungy's coaching abilities, he's one hell of a dad. And that's what really counts.

Wow! This thread went from bad to absolute crap.

Indy fan.
Its not the average of the lineup that counts, its the average age of the key players that counts. The Colts shouldn't be congratualted because they lost players and had to replace then with cheap draft choices.
Your core players on the average are as old or older that the Pats core players starting with Manning and his receivers.

and the Colts won their 1 by more points than all 3 combined by the NE dynasty! lol .... If not for Adam V you prob have 0 SB's.

LOL If not for Adam V you probably don't get to the AFCC in 2006...and if not for a flu bug (and Rex Grossman...) you prob have 0 SB's...

Dungy is what he is - a HC with a .661 career winning percentage in the regular season but a .500 percentage in the post season. And with generally more dominant and talented teams as his regular season WP's would indicate - his .760 Colts fizzle to .583 in the post season and the mighty Bucs .563 faded to .333 in crunch time under Dungy. And remember, that Bucs team was a disappointing 9-7 in his last season there and one and done (his sub specialty) in the playoffs. Gruden may not have won since, but part of that is because he is also not an architect. But he outcoached Dungy winning a SB with essentially the same 9-7 team once he lit a small but sufficient fire under it's offense.

Belichick on the other hand has always done more with less and risen to the occasion. .611 career in the regular season yet .789 come the post season. .711 regular season with a team he actually re-built, as opposed to had handed to him, and an amazing .824 in the post season. Even in disfunctional Cleveland his playoff percentage (.500) exceeded his regular season (.450).

Their playoff differential and the fact that Belichick is also the actual architect who actually builds teams, and not a hired hand caretaker HC in name only who inherited an offense (and even staff) Polian and Mora built and was brought in merely to construct a functional yet inexpensive defense to compliment it, is what seperates the two and relegates St. Tony to the second tier of "winning" NFL HC's as far as impact and accomplishments. It took him 11 years just to get to a Superbowl (including 6 years with Manning at the helm) - Bill went to 4 in the last 8 of his 12 HC seasons and won 3.

As to the thread topic, if they let Bill run the owners meetings the league wouldn't be wasting time ****ering over inane issues like hair length and force outs or trying to wire helmets for guys who butt heads for a living... even as they ignore the need for PI review or goal line cameras while they teeter on the verge of labor chaos...

This is the greatest post ever! Booty Time Booty Time, across the USA!

This is true.

And, according to Reiss, Belichick will be going ...

And I am glad he is, as someone else posted about forever ago in this thread.

I think alot of people will be cordial and there may be alot of laughs over the bru-ha-ha/ bizzare media.
