I am no Bill Walsh but as I understand it Execution, Isolation (matchups) and Balance (Run versus pass) are the keys to an effective offense. Whenever I watch the Patriots their entire offense seems to come down to Tom Brady making plays (and 10-15 screen plays per game).

The defense looks like it will keep opponents to under 20~ PPG the offense won't have to be dominant. Again from a layman's perspective every single play seems to be so difficult and awkward.

Ps. i am all about giving people the benefit of the doubt but F Gagne...

Wait for the angel Maroney my son

Judging this team based on pre-season, with no RB, a lot of new players at WR still adjusting to the system, in the pouring rain and with an ordinarily steady OL playing like crap - it's just silly. Relax.

I can't disagree with any of your observations, but I'll hold back on any criticism until the real bullets start flying. The team produced alot of points down the stretch last season with some mediocre personnel: 40 pts vs Houston, 24 vs Jacksonville, 40 vs Tennessee, 37 vs. the Jets, 24 vs SD, 34 vs Indy. That's an average of 33 points per game against good competition. The D looks dynamite, very athletic and vicious. I have two observations about the O:
1) Brady's arm looks very fresh and strong, the best since '04.
2) The O-line looks a bit soft, like they're not quite game ready. The D looked that way last week, and this week they came out like heat seeking missiles. I expect the O-line to be much more physical next week.

P.S. re: Gagne. My buddies and I have goofed on Gagne since that choke job he pulled in the All-star game a few years back, in the middle of his "consecutive save" streak. That was the only pressure situation, with the world watching, that he faced during his whole "streak" and he coughed up a fur ball on National TV. Not a prime time player.
