Rumor Revis to be cut?

He's rumored to be cut like now or at the end of the season?

I don't see the Jets humiliating a long standing, well respected player in their organization with a mid season cut for a team that will continue to lose with or without him.

I imagine that this is after the season. I'm not sure Revis would have enough pride to sign with anyone for low money to be a fourth or fifth DB (which is what he'd be on the Pats).

God, I hope not. at this point, revis would be the Pats #4 cb. i dont want ryan or rowe losing any snaps to him. hes old and slow. The pats wrung the last good year out of him. It was win-win-Pats got a SB-so did revis and he cashed in bigtime with the hapless jets, who BB destroyed again in the big-stakes poker game. I love what revis brought in 2014-and i dont think it hurt butler to be around him, not to mention hes a 1st ballot hofer-but i dont want him back.

If it's all about the money (like it has always been), then he'll just retire. The $6 million guaranteed next season has offset language and he's not going to be worth that much from a new team, so he has to decide if he wants to make his $6 million by playing football or by sitting at home.

Financially, I think it only makes sense for him to keep playing if he thinks his potential 2018 pay would be worthwhile, and it certainly doesn't look like it would be.

The contract has a $39 million guarantee (5 years, in his second season of that deal) on a $70 million deal. It would seem to be a huge hit to take (I will leave it to the cap wizards, but it would appear to be about $24 million due now in addition to this year's compensation). He has no been great, but he has not been so bad that he cannot play a different CB role. An outright release would not make sense.

Acknowledging all that, it is still the Jets so little would surprise me.

How much did get upfront from the Jets? Wouldn't mind him on another one year rental of course of the vet min variety.

Do we take a look?

Where's this rumor coming from?

I'm guessing that ship has sailed. Belichick has reconciled with people in the past (Brandon Spikes a recent example), so I wouldn't say never. But it takes two to tango, and Revis does not strike me as a guy who would come back here with his tail between his legs. He strikes me as being all about the money - which is fine, he's certainly entitled to that - but the money will definitely not be coming from NE at this point.

Where's the rumor...?
Exactly. This thread is a joke. Of course there will be speculation that he wont be back next year....duh

Why start this thread now? Its not like there was anything written about him being released any day. Why would the Jets do that anyway?

He isn't coming back after that trash he talked on Instagram about Brady and the team. Nobody is stupid enough to believe that he was "hacked".

Dunno where this came from but I doubt it. There's no reason at all for the Jets to do that right now.

The guy doesn't care about winning. He doesn't fit in here.

Yep, all that aside I could see Bill bringing him back (way cheaper) and playing to what are now his abilities but there appears to be WAY too much water under the bridge on this one. It was a one night (season) affair and it was a damn good one. But it's over.

can we use him as a safety ?

Nah. If BB wasn't interested in Nnamdi Asumogha when we desperately needed help in the secondary then I can't see him kicking the tires on a Revis retread. And hasn't BB gone to lengths this year to excise cancers from the locker room?

Hard pass...

can we use him as a safety ?
That idea made sense when people were only worried about declining athleticism, but now Revis' willingness to tackle seems to have sharply declined as well.
