When will the Broncos luck run out?

If Denver wins the Superbowl this year then that squad is on track for a dynasty discussion. That would mean three superbowls in four years and two wins. Not to mention they appear to be longtime threats (at least a few more years)

Doesn't really matter, by the time we played them, injuries will pile up and either team might not have the same competitive squad from earlier in the season.

Pats- 15 points per game allowed
donkeys - 19

Pats- 46% 3rd down allowed
donkeys- 49%

Pats- 90.1 rushing yards per game allowed
donkeys- 127.7

Pats-361 yards per game allowed
donkey- 306

Pats- 7 turnovers forced
donkeys- 6

I know someone will say 55 yards per game is a lot but it really came down to the Pats falling asleep against the lolphins in the 2nd half after going up 28 points. Which the Pats came back on 3 days rest and pitched a shutout and not only a shutout but didn't even let Houston run a play in NE territory until 5 minutes were left in the 3rd quarter.

except on 12/18 i mean

it was a great effort @Cincy but still ...
most if not all big calls going their way
dodged a number of turnovers
dodged injuries to a violent team (plus Ward, Okung and another guy all returning to the game)

3-0 after arguably the toughest part of their schedule (considering circumstances)
by this rate (incl Pitt.) we might need to win both big away games to get homefield

crazy
Let's not call the Broncos lucky. They won the Super Bowl fair and square and are still playing at that high level. We will have to play tough, mistake-free football to beat the Broncos either in their stadium or ours, so let's not waste energy trying to diminish how good they are (or might be) by the end of the season.

Winning homefield is important, but I think the Patriots with a healthy or moderately healthy team could go into Denver and win if we play our brand of ball. Bill and company need, however, to get the team out there on a Tuesday or Wednesday to get acclimated to the altitude. I suspect our adjustment factor to the altitude has more to do with our poor play in Denver as opposed to it being a road game in the general sense. Maybe my belief in the Pats winning in Denver is hubris, but it seems like we fair better the longer we give ourselves a chance to get acclimated to the weather/conditions on the road. Arizona is a case in point.

I think that they're both good and lucky at the same time--if that makes any sense.

In the meantime, I don't really care what they do on weeks that our team isn't playing them. If the Pats stay focused and take care of their own business, they'll raise their chances of getting HFA.

They have a pretty soft schedule the next few weeks

Thinking that Denver are just lucky is a joke. They have made it to 2 superbowls in 3 years. They are a good team we should be worried about them equally they should be worried about us. We are he best teams each other will face all year, even when we have the Seahawks on MNF and Denver opened with the Panthers. It will likely decide who is number 1 seed in the AFC.

We have a long period of success but they are currently in one too. Don't just write it off as luck. Every team has injuries, every team gets calls go their way. Last year we threw away HFA. Denvers crowd was loud this meant that we couldnt use a silents snap so Stork gave away the snap thats not Luck thats preperation. Gost missed an extra point likely because of noise. BB went for it on 4th in FG 3 times thats not luck that was BB not beileveing we had 3 shots that again is not luck thats our GOAT coach making mistakes. Miller picked off Brady giving Denver short field, guess what? That was preperation not luck.

Luck is when opportunity meets preperation. Denver were prepared and took advantage of the opportunities they were presented with. We have to not give them those opportunities.

I suspect our adjustment factor to the altitude has more to do with our poor play in Denver as opposed to it being a road game in the general sense.

The average normal acclimatization timeline for a human being to significant altitude change is sixteen days.

It's early to look at these stats, not just because it's only three games, but also because the Broncos' schedule was much tougher so far.

Tougher because of last season's records? That was last season, not this season.

Denver is playing well. That's not something that is unusual.

I don't know why it is so hard for people to admit that the defending champs are a good team lol. Give credit where credit is due.

With that said, I believe we are better than them for one very simple reason: Scar is back. We also don't have to deal with Kline's lack of strength. I single out Kline because he singlehandedly made it impossible for Brady to step up past the rush with his weak anchor(Kline is probably the reason Malik Jackson got that huge contract).

It's amazing how little respect the Broncos get, in spite of being the defending champs. That's the same crap that the Pats were living with when they'd win the SB and find themselves underdogs to Indy the next season, even though the Pats were beating them pretty regularly.

Exactly.
I don't get the disrespect agenda here. FTR: I have a great respect for this Broncos team and organisation and no matter what anyone projects they are the strongest rival in my book - and thats not bc of Mile High.
When the more knowledgable were laughing at Denver's QB situation and FAs leaving - putting them even out of top 10 in power rankings to me they remained the team to beat until proven otherwise (as s. already mentioned here).

That said - I watched all their games last year - and they were the luckiest bastards alive.
But of course - to be lucky you have to be good. And I agree: prepared.

One picture that remains in my mind from last season is this incredible graphics:

Injuries are not connected with luck only. But luck does play a part. And when the difference in one season is so overwhelming - yes, we can talk about a lucky streak.
I can only wish to all teams the good fortune the Broncos had with their team last year re injuries.

-

Re. this years team I really can't agree they are much stronger than last year as someone stated. They are maybe not much weaker but they are thinner. They could be three key injuries away from downfall: Sanders, von Miller, CJ Anderson. (NE proved they ARE competitive w/o Brady, Gronk, Lewis, High). Or not. They have great lines and the lines are winning games against odds across the league right now (Denver, Minnesota, Philadelphia...).

-

In any case it is great to see this first 3 weeks that a TEAM can overcome so much and win against all odds.

So let me summarize it like this: a lot of TEAM and a little bit of LUCK.

Hilarious how some people are offended that Pats fans on a Pats fans forum think the Pats are better

Talk to me in December

I am not impressed with the Broncos

I am surprised with how many teams suck so bad

The Broncos are a good team. Fortunately the Pats are good as well, and my money would be on the Pats to win, all other things (injuries especially) being equal. Call me crazy but I don't think our defense is too worried about dealing with Siemian. Our OL stays healthy and we're good.

I didn't watch the Broncos game yesterday but I was following the games in the ESPN scoreboard app and they were always in the game from what I could see following the scores. I have no problem to recognize this Broncos team as a tough and seasoned team with lots of playoff mileage. The kid there is playing well, they are definitely in the SB conversation and while I don't want to be a coward and say "Look, I don't want us playing a playoff game on Mile High again" that's kind of the goal for the regular season, that's a tough environment, they are a different team playing home and we know the refs have a tendency to call some plays in their favor there. At this point in time (Pats and Broncos being 3-0) , given NFL's administration, the memo has already been sent to the refs, we all know the difference one regular season win that we leave on the table makes in post season.
