Fallon: Pats offense won't be dialed down with Brissett

We've got The GOAT, baby goat is injured & now it's time for baby goat jr. to shine! :D

While I expect us to be run heavy with mostly quick and short passes I'd like to see us take a few shots downfield. Brissett has a strong arm and I feel we have a real chance to connect at least on one.

If the oline gives him time. They are going to have it tough today. We need a defensive score and play from ahead.

Of course the offense will be limited. It isn't even a question.

....but, sources close to the Patriots said they wouldn't dial down the offense for Brissett. Surely you aren't implying that the Patriots would try to deceive the Texans?? ;)

Obi-Wan Jacoby fanboy here but yes, this must be so.
Not a question of arm; it's the ability to read the D, adjust and be on the same page with every receiver as they read and adjust. I'm still awed that JAG did this so well. It's too early for us to ask Bisquick to do this for the full offense.

I highly doubt they were being honest. They probably won't be as conservative as they were last week, but there's no way in hell they are going to have the entire playbook at their disposal like they have with Brady (or even Garoppolo, for that matter).

Of course not, just forcing BOB to plan for more than he wants to. Just one mind game after another, this week.

Agreed. JAG is in his third year of taking snaps in practice and learning the Patriot's offense. I love JB and his potential, but it would be miraculous if he could run the complicated Patriot offense so soon.

I'm starting to come around to thinking that they will be putting in some surprise running plays for JB and maybe Edelman, just to surprise the Texans (or, surprise them as much as we can with an ex-Patriots OC as their head coach).

If Bill can win a game with 3 different QBs this season, he'd be a lock for coach of the year. I already think he has to be the front runner.

BB will not be getting any awards from THIS NFL*...

Except for the Lombardi

Some comments on the comments:

1. As to Fallon's "sources" Yeah right, the Pats are well known to leak parts of their game plan to reporters.

2. Why would anyone be surprised that JG is able to process defenses and what's happening at the snap of the ball entering his 3rd year, better than JB can at the start of his first. That's a great example of having a keen sense of the obvious

3. In fact it's not that Jacoby has slow release, its more that it takes him that half second to second more to process what's happening and make his decision. THIS is what is going to be his key problem tonight. The Texans will do everything possible to confuse him...as they should.

4. The Texans are going to try and squeeze the short zones and play a tight zone or man coverages underneath with 2 deep S's. Some kind of 4-5-2 alignment. This kind of defensive plan will make things like screens and RB dump offs easy to defend, and forces any completions in the 5-10 yd past the LOS, difficult. The Texans will want to make JB beat them deep and to the outside, or with very accurate short throws into tight coverages. They will also have at LEAST 8 in the box vs the run.

5. With only 3 days to get ready, this COULD be ugly and VERY tough to score points against a team that hasn't allowed more than 12 points in their last 4 regular season games

I figured a tough brisket would be slow smoked.

As per another thread I just started, it was even limited somewhat for Jimmy G.

Then the Pats will play action them to death.......it will be over by halftime

and good luck to Jonathan Joseph trying to cover edelman amendola or hogan man to man........

I'm surprised opponents didn't try this in 2001........
