Mort says it's "not the right time" to discuss the deflategate controversy

Ugh...

Studies have shown that stress really zaps the body of it's strength of healing. Going through chemo, stem cell or radiation treatments takes a toll and being stressed out decreases his chances of a full recovery. I wish him and his family well through this ordeal. Anyone who has had a loved on go through this knows its a living hell.

But.....

WTF is he going on the air anyway? He clearly wants to get back in the swing of things. He has a motivation. He knows that this will come up. He knows his story (or lack thereof) set of this firestorm. The problem is that I now believe he is using his cancer recovery as an excuse not to discuss the issue and that is WEAK.

Hes just a slippery dude.

Don't we pretty much know that is was Kensil? Just like we know that is was Troy Vincent that told Stephen A. about Brady's cellphone. Or are there other suspects?

Mort needs to speak, otherwise your conjecture is just muddying the waters along with all the rest who want to protect his abhorrent actions. Again, F' Mort.

Whose to say that God didn't punish him with the cancer for lying about Brady? Think about it, he said lies and then got throat cancer, coincidence? I think NOT! Maybe God will forgive him and cure him if he admits that he lied and rats out the people who instructed him to do so?

(And yes, for those who aren't sure, this is what we call "sarcasm" )

Cancer is no joke. My sister was initially "diagnosed " by a quack who told her it was probably cancer. But she got the proper diagnosis, from a specialist just yesterday, that she has NONE!! I actually couldn't stop crying for hours, in relief, after losing several family members over the last few years. I have all the sympathy in the world for Mort, with that terrible desease . I hate what he did in the Deflategate mess and hope if he is terminal, he will confess any wrong doings by the league.

Surviving cancer means avoiding stress. His response that he's disappointed that Brady isn't playing tells me that when he speaks, it won't paint hte NFL positively - and that's going to cause a lot of stress.

Remorse sure as hell doesn't help either. Wouldn't let it out do some good for him? Relieve his soul from this guilt feeling, that tarnished the image of a man who is also a father and always did the right things in and out of the football field?

He is a scumbag son of a *****, that's what he is. I hope he recovers from cancer because I have sympathy for his family.

As I said when the news of his cancer first broke, I wish him well and hope he recovers.

The guy is being treated for a serious but often manageable form of cancer. Let's cut him some slack. He has a family for which he cares and which seems to care about him.

That doesn't mean I forgive him, but, as we speak here this afternoon, countless thousands of the 7.4 billion people on our planet are doing far worse things to their fellow humans than Mort did with his sloppy and uncorrected reporting.

Also, a little good Karma towards Mort couldn't hurt. Maybe he'll use a new found perspective on life, break the journalistic "code" about sources and "out" those who perpetrated this. I know that's a pipe dream, but stranger things have happened.

everyone, let's call him "chris", "mortensen", or "chris mortensen". mort in french literally translates to "dead man".

considering how many worse characters emerged in this story after mort, i am okay personally with his choice not to speak. he and espn played a big part in making the story but even more terrible people exist in the league office.

Luckily for us, we're not in France.

You kinda have a point. Kinda. But if Mortensen was doing the job of a journalist (before he was diagnosed), which he purports to be, he would have done a damning story on those corrupt asshats at the NFL main offices instead of conspiring with them. Him protecting sources who used him to further an obvious agenda, even though those "sources" callously destroyed his reputation in the process, is not in the same zipcode with journalistic integrity.

Now is not the time to talk about Mort. Let him fade into the obscurity that he deserves.
Why not? It's the perfect time with Brady about to start his suspension. As to protecting sources, there are may ways he could have reported on how he was used and the underlying motivations without revealing names. He didn't even correct himself for the longest time after the truth was out. So, no sympathy from me. Both my parents died of cancer, my sister fought it and is in recovery, and not one of them gave up a sense of right and wrong while they were dealing with it. Cancer is not an excuse to be a d*ck. I can't express how much this is p*ss*ing me off!

WELL ISNT THAT CONVENIENT

Seriously though, the guy's got more pressing things in his life to deal with than Deflategate right now. Can't reasonably begrudge him that.

He should have corrected his mistake ages ago, he never did, he's definitely not going to at this point... it is what it is.

Exactly. He deserves criticism for his original behavior, and for then not fixing it. But he doesn't deserve extra criticism now; the vague hint about him being pro-Brady now is all we should ask for given what his priorities properly are.

There could be some validity to that. Look how OJ'S defense team wound up. Karma's a b!tch

Yeah, agreed. Most people have the grace not to be overtly negative to someone seriously ill--you know, there for the grace of, etc.

But if you're going to put yourself out there, do interviews, whatever, then don't start babbling about 4 hour blocks. As you said, that's weak.

First, it is "two", not "to".
Second, why don't you take a step back and be a human being? The guy is dying of Stage 4 cancer and you "don't give a ****".

You are a piece of **** then.

fuk that.......he sat on the bad information......fuk him......I wish the cancer took his balls since he has none anyway
